Most pirated show of 2012 for a reason.
Because HBO and/or the TV providers are stupid, and won't offer up a cable free subscription plan to their channel?
SubJeff on 9/6/2012 at 17:19
Because everyone wants it and can't get it any other way. No judgment on stupidity, just stating the facts.

POTENTIAL DERAIL INCOMING:
It's because people can't get it any other way that makes it so stupid. I watch it on HBOGo because I have a subscription to the channel. It's one of the very few reasons why I still have a cable TV sub in the first place. But not everyone has access to it, or wants to pay an extra $30+ a month and get saddled with all the extra movie channels you have to subscribe to to get it.
Now imagine if HBO offered up a $12 a month online subscription to their service. A relatively simple move on there end, and I'm willing to bet said move would cut piracy of the show down by 2/3rds. I'm well convinced the reason some of the people who pirate TV shows do so is because it's the most convenient way to get them.

We did just go over this in the Prometheus thread. Companies haven't really gotten up to speed that in our connected era you can't treat regions too differently and not expect people to be up in arms about it. I guess that applies to withholding things from consumers too and expecting them to roll over like they would have in the past, feeling like they don't have a say in it (but get a forum of people all saying the same thing, and people feel their opinion isn't just their own anymore but the reasonable thing consumers should expect).
It's just funny SubjEff is skirting on the other side from what he was saying in the Prometheus thread, not to say he's being inconsistent though.

I streamed all of it. Would have happily paid for it, will almost certainly be buying the box sets when they are out. I don't feel bad. I don't even own a TV and don't plan to until I move in with my gf.

Troooo. It's amusing really, the entire issue with pirating has so much to do with ease of attainment and ease of use. If any one service offered all you, personally, needed for a reasonable price why would you ever pirate? For me Spotify just about meets all my mobile music needs so why would I ever pirate anything I can get on it?

Ha ha. But I'm not on the other side. In both instances I've just observed the fact - people will pirate things they want but can't get.

And damn if it doesn't make sense. I guess my dream of being able to stream all my shows through the internet is still a few years off yet.
...well, legally anyway.

They should partner with a big torrent site and provide a selection of high quality torrents.

Finally caught up with the last episode. I'm not sure I've come across as sure-footed and confident a finale that delivers the big moments, wraps up all the big existing plot threads, as well as creating the big cliff-hangers to leave everyone gagging for more since the closer of s3 of Breaking Bad, and that's saying something. Delightful TV.
