Well I REALLY enjoyed DX multiplayer for about a month or so but it's begun to get on my nerves. Throwing knives are WAY too powerful and EVERYONE's been using them, at least when I play. Three knives will kill no matter what the skill; whereas my sniper rifle will kill in two shots if I am really really lucky, and it has the slowest reload of any the weapons.
Too many people are treating this game like it's Quake. Running around with Vision and Speed on, using no tactics at all. I really wish people would play the game like DX and not Quake, and I'm confused why such a classy game would attract such idiot gamers anyway.
Once I see a guy named AssRaper running around the map like a fool, getting near-instant kills with knives, and occaisonally yelling such gems as "Eat Shit and Die!" is about the time I quit.
Anybody else feel the same way?

Yeah, I've hosted a few games myself (although I haven't played MP in awhile), and before I figured out how to hide my IP from the server list, I got all sorts of knuckleheads joining the game, one guy in particular was camping in areas, using the cloak aug, decloaking only to wipe you out with a GEP gun. No fun at all, and he just ignored anyone who tried to tell him how unsportsman and just no fun it was. What's the point? How is that any fun at all for anyone? Even him? It sucks that there doesn't appear to be a way to kick people off your servers...
Anyway, now I just host LAN games instead, and give the folks I want to play with the IP address. Of course, this is much easier when the games are arranged on IRC, and everyone who wants to play is online at the time...
And yes, those throwing knives *are* mighty powerful. I discovered them after someone else started siging their praises, and was surprised to see how easily you could kill someone with them, since I had never used them in a single player game. I recently started a single player game again, second time through, and guess what I found? The throwing knives suck in SP.

Y'know it struck me as funny in the MP game that you could not ban certain augs etc... but then it IS beta.
With any luck they'll fix that...

you know, video games are a subculture field that attracts a majority of loonies and complete idiots. we are very few of us as delicate, smart and gentlemen as we are.

Yeah I know...But it's just nice to think there's hope for us true gamers...hehe. I can only imagine thoughtful, mature GOOD people picking up and playing DX...due mainly to the fact that when I go to the software store all the no-brainer idiots are huddled around the console section and no one EVER ventures into the PC area (except occaisonally to find a gift in the bargain bin). So I assume that every once and a while (never at the same time) a true gamer enters the store, just like me, and curiously wanders into the PC section...I have no first hand evidence that foolish people even purchase computer games, much less one with the depth of DX.

*ahem* like any mass consumer product really. Aint so "subculture" about it.
At least it's primarily a SP game...
