What i want to know is how to implement frob highlight rather than it just overlaying textures as it does at the moment.

You would likely have to code it. I don't think it's supported by the engine, and that would mean...source code..which also means...never going to happen.

You know how on some games, after they're released in an obviously flawed state, the original programmer(s) might release an unofficial patch or two because they're just so darn committed to the project?
Curious how this didn't happen with TDS.
But unsurprising.

I guess the editor for which we were all so profoundly grateful didn't count, then?

I was about to point out the same thing myself....although, I do know what Zylon means. We do have the editor, but it doesn't give us access to fix a lot of things. I can imagine in a few years, if T3 Editing survives...that T3Ed will be one frankenstein of an editor. Whenever I re-release my enhanced Installer...we'll certainly see a some bandages.

Let's not forget, Zylon, that they also fixed the PC versions "Difficulty" bug. A grievous bug. Not very elite at all. Almost comical. They got everything else, but forgot about stealth! Almost ironic is the fact that the happy xboxers can't have the patch. Or can they now? I haven't payed attention.

Yah, the single officially released patch fixed ONE highly-publicized bug. Contrast to games like Anachronox, or Hardwar, or Falcon 4.0, or Vampire: The Masquerade, or Battlezone II, that received significantly game-enhancing yet entirely unofficial patches long after the publishers dropped official support, because the people who created those game really cared about them.

But isn't that pretty uncommon? You listed a few, but are those pretty much all of them? If it's uncommon, then we can't really garner anything from it not happening with T3

No. I know of many developers who make free patches in the manner Zylonbane described, often even after the publisher said that they were only funded for one. Creative Assembly, 2000 A.D., 1C Maddox Games, Eagle Dynamics, and many others have done the same.

But still, your "I know of a bunch..." could still be mistaken about the actual amount. It's easy to remember how there were a bunch of times that something interesting happened, and your mind will just pass over all the times it didn't happen because those don't stick out.
Even if you guys could name 50 games where this happened, that'd be a tiny minority of games released in the past few years. I'm not saying I know any stats myself, and you guys might be right, but I'm just skeptical about this case.
