And maybe this doesn't count as HYPE since it's out already (albeit only in the Epic store), but this looks like it could be fun. Blatant Dark Souls ripoff, but still.

I've decided to try and replay Far Cry 2 due to all the 10th anniversary articles that were around a few weeks ago. I already tried replaying the game roughly a year ago but back then it didn't click; the articles I've read make me think I should persist with it, though. I have played the whole game before, but that was shortly after it was released, and I don't really remember much other than the gruesome bits where you get out the bullets that hit you, the spreading fires and the merc buddies.

I adore Far Cry 2 and I still felt it turned into a slog by the end and I ultimately just wanted it to be over. I can't imagine playing through the whole thing again. It's long, and more than a little repetitive.

Oops... That post should've been in the "NOW what are you playing?" thread. I shouldn't post before my second or third coffee of the day.

I'm playing it, too. And I love it, too. Despite directly appropriating many of Dark Souls' systems (with some Breath of the Wild and Journey elements blended in), it has an understated, minimalist flavor all its own. I suppose if I write more it should go in the "what are you playing" thread instead of here.

I think Ashen should have its own thread in the Dark Souls sub-forum. I've just installed ReShade, so I can make screenshots. If people are interested, I could post a few (non-spoiler) screenshots.

I was thinking the same thing. Go ahead and get it started with some screenshots. :)

Polygon has a list of (
https://www.polygon.com/gaming/2018/12/31/18156570/games-of-2019-most-anticipated) 50 upcoming 2019 games here aaaaand it's mostly a bunch of sequels, or spiritual sequels. RPS has (
https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2019/01/01/the-rps-hivemind-presents-the-most-anticipated-games-of-2019/1/) a list as well.
Significant hype:
Cyberpunk 2077 (no confirmed release date)
Ghost of Tsushima (no confirmed release date)
Stormlands - I'm playing Insomniac's Spider-Man now and getting increasingly hyped about this open-world VR action game they're developing.
Sable
In The Valley Of Gods
Some hype:
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe - which comes out in a little over a week!
The Last Of Us 2 (no confirmed release date)
Days Gone
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Void Bastards
Sequels that'll probably be just fine:
Doom Eternal
Metro Exodus
Far Cry Whateveritscalled
Rage 2
Psychonauts 2
Looking forward to hearing more about:
Death Stranding (no confirmed release date)
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order - Third person action game by Respawn and
I think singleplayer?

I'm usually not one for 3rd person platformers, but I'm finding myself interested in Sea of Solitude. Also Flotsam, since I haven't played a city builder in a long time. I'm also mildly curious whether Journey to the Savage Planet will be any good.
After the E3 demo, I had my hopes up that we'd see Cyberpunk 2077 before the end of the year, but I didn't see it on either of those lists.
Other than that, I see way too much franchise milking. Another Doom, another Rage, another Wolfenstein, Star Wars, Far Cry, GoW, Marvel, MechWarrior, and on and on. I'll cut Shenmue 3 a little slack since it's been ages since the last one.
