I looks awful. And that new Jedi game looks terrible too.

So Arma3 Contact is out now, the one about alien contact. I saw a few TTLG people picked it up. I hope someone who got it can give a report.
The idea of a realistic sim with a scifi set up has promise, but how's the execution?
Edit: The Steam reviews are pretty consistent on the point that you don't actually use your firearm much if at all.
It's more about logistically dealing with the contact itself.
I suppose that's still interesting to me. It got compared to Arrival a few times, and I liked the first half of that movie for the contact part, so that was in this game's favor for me.

Sounds like a bigger content-rich expansion that has less combat focused gameplay a'la Laws Of War. That was a pretty great DLC, so I'll probably scoop this up.

The franchise is owned by Take Two now, so be prepared for predatory micro-transactions.

Have you played Hyperlight Drifter?

Yup. Own it on both the PC, and the Switch.

It looks like it's more on the jRPG + a-little-Diablo-style-fighting-on-the-side side of gameplay than the HLD fighting-is-the-core-gameplay-of-the-whole-game side.
While I'm here... I've been thinking all day today about a game I want to play, which is different than hype for a coming game, but where else am I going to post it?
I've been obsessed with Graviteam style games lately. I love that the gameplay happens on such an epic scale of 1000s to 10Ks of units battling it out, but you can still zoom into little corners and see little moments of horror and triumph for individuals and small platoons.
My wish is, I wish this style would be brought to other eras. I was thinking it'd work particularly well for 19th Century warfare, from the Napoleon wars to the US Civil War, where you could have battles taking place over lines miles long, but zoom into lots of little pockets of dynamic action. The Total War style just doesn't give it proper justice. The other feature I'd love to have is becoming an individual soldier and playing it FPS style within the larger battle, just to be more immersed in the whole thing, if there were a way to manage it along with the high-level commands part of the game.
