And Jonathan Pryce. Wow. EA sure has a lot of money. Maybe they should start working on movies instead of games.

Actually, I also got a chance to play the beta a bit lately, and I'd say it's shaping up to be a pretty fun game too.
Definitely an improvement over Command & Conquer 3. There's actual variation between the gameplay of the three sides, better balance, less one-unit spam, more stress put on micromanagement of units etc.
And most important, I felt the same kind of magic when playing as I did in Red Alert 2!
As for the trailer, I like how it gives a vibe somewhere in between Red Alert 1 and 2. I think a lot of it comes from the subdued colour palette in the time machine scenes, which is much more similar to RA1 than the always colorful RA2 scenes.

Subdued color palette or not, the whole style reminds me of RA2 but it's even more cheesy and ridiculous this time. I liked RA1's more serious tone. But I guess this epic cartoony stuff is what's "cool" now. The game itself might be good (though I didn't like TW's gameplay), but of no use if I can't force myself to follow the story and get into the world. So all in all, I don't like it, but then again, I don't like anything that's C&C and came after 1999.
Anyway, watch out, Stormare is about to un-pimp ze Zoviets!:joke:

See, every since playing Red Alert, and a demo of one of the later games, I have had this impression of all things C&C as being the same game rehashed over and over with ever increasing amounts of wanky cheese interspersing proceedings.
From what's been said so far, it sounds like I'm not about to change my mind?

Same game? The entire
genre is the same game.

Hmmm, not really though. The whole genre is the same type of game.
Difference being, I'd play Starcraft and Warcraft II until my eyes feel like two furry hard boiled eggs, any variant of C&C I find almost entirely unengaging.

Oddly its the other way round for me.
van HellSing on 21/8/2008 at 10:33
Same here. The only C&C I didn't like was Generals, where EA copied Starcraft's gameplay.

Yes, that one failed to grab me too.
