don't even worry guys, brutal legend would've been much too facile for your sophisticated gaming needs
Aside from the fact that you're a dickhead, in my case it's nothing to do with the fact that it's not on PC so much as his reasoning for it. It's complete fucking bullshit.

While I don't agree with your reaction in that earlier post (that's a question of personal taste, though), I agree with your opinion. Shaffer's reply is transparently phony and it's basically the reverse of PC elitism: "It's a button masher, so it belongs on consoles!" I just wish he was honest about it and admitted that it's almost entirely a business reason what platforms any given title is released for. If they/the publisher felt they could make enough profit (and, I guess, got enough of a personal kick out of it - I do believe that Doublefine is also in it because they enjoy the job),
Brütal Legend would come out on PC. Fair enough. But don't give us any insulting crap about action belonging on consoles.

Wow, props on him being a jackass to people whose main fault was being actually interested in his fucking game. It's not about not bringing it to PC, we all know how the industry works and it's not even his call, but saying that your action game somehow can't be ported, and then implying that gamers who don't own consoles are simply pigheaded fanboys, that's utter asshatted bullshit.
And I love how RPS are sucking it all up like a dedicated whore.

Everyone here is right.
I'm still picking the game up, though.

what, the same reasoning nearly everyone here uses to support their preferences for PC gaming?
face it, brutal legend is gonna be totally
dumbed-down; you don't need that shit—it's an affront to the time and energy required in maintaining a SERIOUS hobby

You know, Aja, just because there are stupid PC fanboys who think that PC gaming=teh IQ!!!!1!1 and console gaming=mouth-breathing morons doesn't mean that the counter-argument isn't just as moronic. Apart from anything else, it makes Tim Shaffer come across as a 12-year old on the school playground. And your smug sarcasm isn't all that much better. If you think it's clever, it isn't really.

He might be wrong, but so was everyone else who, up until this point, insisted on promoting a pointless elitist distinction between platforms. The cry of games being "dumbed down" for a particular audience is practically canonical around here, and yet when Shaffer actually admits his game is designed for this reviled demographic suddenly we're all up in arms because "oh well I actually wanted to play that one!"
It's hard to sympathize with hypocrites.

I agree with you that there is a fair number of very loud PC fans who are elitists, and their complaints are pretty hypocritical. However, there are also a lot of PC gamers who don't have a console (or at least a current-gen one that
Brütal Legend is coming out for) for very valid reasons and who are entitled to being pissed off, both with Shaffer's comments and with yours. IMO collective put-downs are always a dick move.

Once again Thirith speaks the truth! Personally I have a 360 and was always going to be getting that version because it looks like the kind of game I want to play in the lounge, lazing on the couch. That said I am quite shocked at Schafer's statement.
I also thinks it's more than bit unfair to label the majority of TTLG as console-hating-PC-elitists because of some of the more vocal fucktards, and it's always the same people, on these boards. Generally we prefer the PC of course, and for some of us it's the only option, but most people here are not averse to some console action. Fuck, I love Gears of War as much as my arty Russian games like Pathologic.

Thank you, Thirith. I'm not a PCfag by any means, hell I grew up on consoles and I still have consoles, and I'm supposed to be getting Dead Rising this week and I'll be jumping right into that as soon as Bioshock is done. But attitudes like Tim Schaffer's are why I hate consoletards. Aja isn't helping at all.
Even if the game had been on PC I would still have gotten the 360 version both to expand my library as well as the fact that it's just the sort of game I'd rather play on consoles. I couldn't imagine playing The Warriors (one of my favourite PS2 games) on PC. I'm getting Batman: AA on 360 for the same reason even though that one is on PC. But his blanket putdown of an entire demographic means he needs to have his mouth peed in. Preferably by a Grim Fandango fan.
