No publisher or anything though. I can see this happening, since the original has actually gained ground due to Steam and other sales. And now with Ron Gilbert hanging out with Schafer, it should be awesome. Thoughts? Will any publisher be willing to hop into a sequel to a market flop? How did Brutal Legend manage on the markets btw, might be an important thing.

Brutal Legend didn't do very well. A random Google says it didn't make the top 10 in the US in the first month of its sales. It might've had a long tail, but it didn't set anything on fire when it was released, commercially or critically.
I'd love a Psychonauts 2 as well. EA helped out with Brutal Legend; I guess the fact that Schafer's shopping for publishers means they're not ready to part with their cash for another big title.

How's Costume Quest doing for them, does anyone know?
I have to admit I haven't bought that (yet), even though I've paid for Psychonauts twice and snatched up Brutal Legend pretty much straight away upon release - and it does actually look quite fun.

The real creative brains behind Psychonaut, Erik Wolpaw, is employed by Valve. So it won't be the same.
Besides TimmyS can go fuck himself after the patronising treatment of the PC community with his last game. The smug high that I was on after I learned that Brutal Legend had bombed hard sale-wise was glorious.

Brutal Legend was a bit wank to be honest. For all his whinging about how it wouldn't work on a PC, the controls were utter dogshit for the RTS sections and would have worked a metric shit-tonne better on PC.

Me, I have a smug smile on my face everytime I think of all the people who are butt-hurt over what TS said when I play Brutal Legend on my Xbox.

A saying about people in glass houses comes to mind.
I don't see it happening though. The suits tend to prefer guaranteed Day 1 blockbuster franchises; making a sequel to a cult classic just doesn't happen that often.

Man, I really don't want to sound like Evabot but are you freaking kidding me? Tim Schaefer is a guy who got his start in
PC gaming only to turn around and insult a sizeable chunk of people whose only crime was being interested in his fucking game. It's one thing to announce no PC version, it's another thing to make a fucking ass of yourself by first claiming that his game wouldn't work on PC because it's a button-masher (nevermind the fact that the RTS sections prove him wrong and that it's not like getting a gamepad is hard or even uncommon these days) and then calling gamers who don't own consoles dumb fanboys who don't deserve to play his game.
It's like CliffyB, I still remember his old point and click adventure for Windows 3.1, CliffyB started off in PC gaming and just like TimmyS he forgot his roots to slam PC gamers: "most people don't have very good computers and the only ones who do would just pirate my shitty game anyway."
I own a 360. I own most of the last generation consoles. I own all the consoles from the generation before that. I'm not a PC gaming elitist by any stretch of the imagination. But I'm getting sick of people like Tim Schaefer and CliffyB and all these other guys who sacrifice their souls for money then try to cover it up with bullshit. Tim Schaefer was a douchebag and I guaran-goddamn-tee you that Brutal Legend, in spite of being a shrine to everything wrong with metal, would have made megabucks if it had been on PC and TimmyS hadn't opened his big fucking mouth. Instead it bombed horribly and it deserved it.

Could someone link to whatever interview it is where Shafer has talked shit about PC gamers? I've heard a lot about it but I'd like to read it myself.

Erik Wolpaw is one funny motherfucker. But Shafer's other games besides Psychonauts have been really funny as well so I don't think Wolpaw
needs to be onboards for it to be funny.

No, Brutal Legend failed because it was a mediocre game. Nothing more or less.
Personally, whatever Tim Schaefer said about PC gaming couldn't possibly make me wish that a sequel to one of the greatest games of all time
doesn't get made.
