^ that. Word, Aja.
I was pissed about Tim's casual dismissal of the PC as well, and in retrospect it was a bullshit argument. But he hasn't made a habit of bashing his home platform like the boys at Epic. And the fact remains that Tim's still one of the best game devs out there.

My question is, 'Why all the hate for consoles?' If you hate consoles, that means you hate Katamari Damacy, Okami, ICO, and you are in fact a bad person. A bad person who should send all their hate mail to Eurogamer and not to me.
This is what everyone was getting upset about? It's obviously a joke.
And for the record, Brutal Legend wouldn't really play that well with a keyboard and mouse. Driving, which comprises a large portion of the game, sucks with a keyboard, and the "RTS" sections are clearly designed around a joystick—a mouse wouldn't work well given the over-the-shoulder perspective you control everything from. They'd have to redesign that whole aspect of the game.
(not that any of this precludes a PC version, just saying Schaefer's not exactly lying when he says the game's designed for a particular control method)

No, that's not it. It's the bit where he says it's an action game which would work better on consoles.
Also no, the RTS bits would work fine on PC. It's practically the same as Sacrifice after all, if you've ever played it. And driving works fine with the mouse and keyboard when it's as undemanding as BL's. And even then, like deth said, you can plug in a pad.

Thanks Eva, I actually Googled "Tim Shafer pc" before I asked my question and I did read that article but I thought "This can't be it, this can't be what everyone is raging about. Better doublecheck with TTLG". If you read between the lines it's pretty clear that Shafer doesn't really have any say in what systems BL would appear on and he's just doing his PR duties by trowing out some bullshit about controls and then throwing in a joke about PC gamers being bad people to try to smoothe over the issue. It's bad tact at worst, but it's no reason to hate the guy.
Also: for the record, I liked BL. I thought it was as good as Psychonauts.

I'm just finishing up Psychonauts for the first time, and despite how aggravated I get with a lot of the platforming, I would very much like to see a sequel. I love Day of the Tentacle and Monkey Island, and I love Psychonauts despite it's occasional clumsiness. Some parts even made me laugh out loud, which is not very common for a game.

It's not that I don't want a Psychonauts sequel to be made. I haven't played the first one, I don't particularly care. And I'm well aware that TimmyS doesn't have the final say anyway.
The plain point of fact is that TimmyS tried to cover up a business decision by insulting the people negatively affected by that business decision. As far as I'm concerned, he doesn't deserve a single penny for his shitty game. I pass no judgment on Psychonauts or any other TimmyS game, only TimmyS himself and Brutal Legend. To say nothing of my problems with Brutal Legend itself, as a game.

You'd hate it. It's bright and colorful and funny and has a plot.

That was pretty fucking weak even for you. Try harder.

Oh for fuck's sake, can we end with the "roots in..." bullshit argument already? They had their roots in PC gaming because that was pretty much the only fucking way for them to develop games at that point in time and, unlike the other thousands/millions of game devlopers they were talented and lucky enough to get recognized and hit it big. There is nothing more to that. PCs aren't some magical land spurring hundreds of years of rich, mankind defining heritage that needs to be respected and remembered. It's a piece of a fucking circuit board differing from an xbox only by the shape of its external case (did you know the xbox has USB PORTS JUST LIKE PC), so can we please cut out with the fucking pseudo-nationalistic "BUT OUR PC MOTHERLAND" shitfits already?
