Congrads, MF.
Some good news for you, if you wanna know it...
You'll be pleased to know that apart from the little stroll into the catacombs with your good friend Lauryl, (Which you may or may not have done yet) there'll be no more encounters with your other good friends the undead.
I've done the Cradle a few times now, and although it is less scary the more times you do it, it's one of the greatest thief levels of all time. Yesterday I did it in the dark, on expert, with headphones, and ghosting. Kills- 0. Times Caught- 0. Heart attack count- 3. Times Reloaded- 2. Took me the better part of the night, and I had a champagne when I finally finished it.
Your Cradle Liveblog really should be published; excellent job! :thumb:

* And one last minor plotpoint - what was the deal with the intelligent, dangerous criminal in cell #1? I went back and rode up to his cell, but apart from a creepy haunted laugh floating down towards me, and a dummy suspended from the ceiling, there didn't seem to be anything to differentiate him from the other 8 residents. Was there nothing more to this plot point?
He's laughing because the elevator is a one way ride -
it goes up but not down.Thankfully, there are a lot of pipes you can use to jump your way back :)
Very enjoyable reading! :thumb:

King No One must have been a mastermind of insanity.
Cool fellow for a general chit chat at local coffee bar.

Thanks again to everyone for their advice to me pre-Cradle. :)
T-Smith, I'm not gonna read your spoilers for now, since I still have the endgame to work through (maybe tonight!) I did get a better picture of what the Cradle really was and how it ended (and was "born" at the same time) by reading the 10-page PC Gamer article on the level. I read through some of null's old postings as well - interesting bit about the chair in front of the staff tower. That's one of many things I was obviously too dense to pick up on as I wandered through the game. Or maybe I was slightly distracted by the possibilities of horrible death around every corner!
Play the Cradle on Expert in ghosting mode? Not for all the tea in China, my friend. Those FBs and fire arrows were probably the only thing that kept me sane.
BroReginald, it's kinda funny: my previous trip to the Catacombs had been rather terror-filled as I tried to carefully walk around the zombies or undead, backstabbing when I could, running away in terror most of the time.
After the Cradle? It was a cakewalk. :D "Hey, a slow-moving, non-puppet zombie! Howsabout a mouth full of fire arrows, fool! Ooooh, a couple of Hammer Haunts - eat flashbombs, chumps! MWAHAHAHAHA!"
I made it through The Cradle. I'm invincible. ;)
