Hi all, the latest news from me. I had a bit of a disaster today. I lost about a days work due to a saving error from Dromed under WindowsXP. I had a backup but it meant a lot of work extra. I have finished exporting all the hardcoded object strings to a .str file. I also set up the directory structure for a multi-lingual version. I provided Jericho with a working link to download the complete mission. The last-minute translations of Stephan_Key are also included because they were better than mine (initially via a translation engine but modified afterwards). So now we have to wait for confirmation from Jericho and Timon. Stephan_Key, I would like to have the french texts, but it is not urgent yet. Let's first bring out the single-english version. By the way Jericho, the link I provided is for your use only, so don't broadcast it to the world. Downloads have to be hosted by one (or more) of the official Thief hosts.
Okay, that's it for now. I hope you are taffing about in Timoteus soon! :D

OK, I think this is the last post here... We had a lot of fuzz today, since I sent the wrong file to Epitumia. I had so many files named "final" that I sent the wrong one. :erm: Uhhh, that created confusion.
Finally the correct file was uploaded and I sent the link to both Epitumia and Long Finger. Expect to see English version of Timoteus on Cheap Downloads site.
OK, as I talked to Long Finger, perhaps it would be a good idea to start a seperate new thread about the English version being released. We would both like to hear your comments.

Praise the builder of this mission, and the translators!
The mission seems like a lot of fun, but I have a question, as it seems I'm stuck and beginning to wonder if there's something wrong with the English version.
I've delivered the alibi to Timoteus, and received the additional objective. However, I can't seem to find any more keys to open several doors, and think there might problems with some doors.
To begin with, I cannot find a key to the double doors leading to a hallway and (unopenable, inactive) doors to two meeting rooms and some other third room. This is the hallway that can be seen from the outside of the courthouse, looking in through the front double doors near the start. I can only enter the hallway by alerting the guard to come looking after me and then blackjacking him, but I assume there should be a key to the door somewhere?
When I get in this way, none of the conference room doors seem to be frobbable. They highlight, but don't react to lockpics or key (the only one I have left: 'deposit key'). They seem entirely inactive, and don't even emit any noise when frobbed. They can't be bashed open with the sword, either. :weird:
I haven't found the key to the library anywhere, either. I've been to the holding cells, found the key on the ledge of the stairs leading down, picked the lock of the grate, and ended up in a small room with a chair and an unbreakable window looking into a large room. What am I supposed to do next?
I'm also missing a key to the doors leading to another hallway; the one in the middle of the long hallway with the statues, some loot and the Horn of Quintus, with the door to the Reading Room at the end (to which I also cannot find a key).
Is this mission broken (the unopenable, inactive doors make me suspicious), or have I seriously missed something? :wot:
Oh, yeah, I haven't found the labyrinth nor the bathroom, but I suspect they are behind those areas I currently cannot access.
I don't think the mission is broken. Timoteus has got a lot of hidden stuff, sometimes it's extremely difficult to find. During the process of translation, I bugged Timon and Long Finger with questions, like "Grrr, where is that key?" or "Grrr, how to enter here and there?" :sly: :laff:
Did you try?
Down the corridor just before the stairs next to the scribes room, there are two torches. One is lit, the other one is not. Try to distinguish the second one and examine again the two torches.
Also:
Explore the area below the stairs next to the scribes room very very carefully.
I hope that helps. ;)

Thanks for your comments, Jericho!
I forgot to mention that I'm playing on expert.
it only led to a couple of small rooms and a corridor between them, where I found some loot behind the statue, and an arrow (forget which type) and maybe something else. Some other comment mentioned that this entrance would lead to other parts of the building, but I only found those two rooms.
A quick edit. I went just back to take a better look, and found something I had previously missed.... ;)
Explore the area below the stairs next to the scribes room very very carefully.
Thanks, I found that already, if you're referring to the
switch and the thief's hiding place with the note and a couple of arrows.
I hope that helps. ;) I'm still baffled :wot: by those doors that seem completely inactive. They highlight, but emit no sounds when frobbed or when I try to pick them or open them with a key. :wot:
Guess I'll have to go back to those places you mentioned and see if I've missed something.

Uh, I played the mission ages ago. Perhaps Long Finger can help you, he played it very recently.
What I can tell you from the top of my head:
Assuming we are talking about a room behind a secret panel, which you open by frobbing a torch, then: OK, you found the two rooms and a corridor. Did you find rope arrows in the chest? If so, examine the ceiling. See that dark spot? By placing 2 rope arrows you can climb up. You will find a whole new area to explore and you will be able to open the doors you couldn't frob now. At least that's what I remember, I can't tell you the details from the top oif my head now. Explore the new area, you will find a lot of new stuff.
Thanks, I found what you mentioned when I went back and looked more closely! I'm much further ahead now, still missing the
library key, and haven't found any labyrinth
, but I assume I'll run into them soon enough ;)
I'm enjoying the mission, but
those doors that can be opened from the other side, but appear completely 'dead' from the other side are a bit confusing. They should at least make a sound like they're just locked, which would give a taffer enough of an incentive to search for an alternate route to whatever's behind them.
I also noticed a few typos (nothing too serious at all) and on two occasions as I was
teleported from one of those strange rooms back to where I left,
I got stuck to the floor. During the first time I got really stuck -- I could only spin around, but couldn't walk, jump or crouch, and the second time (in a different room) I just managed to move away as weird things started happening (rendering problems, like you sometimes see when you're taffing around in areas where you're not supposed to be.) So really, nothing catastrophic, but I thought I'd mention them.
I like this mission because it's a little bit different, a bit unconventional, and offers several little surprises. It's got personality. I also like the story. I'm eager to see how the whole mission plays out!
