(about Timon) Okay, thanks. We wait what he comes up with. He mentioned that all the texture problems were gone after optimizing.

I suggest we do our exchange of other developement/brushing up ideas via email. This thread is available for the players to ask their questions about the gameplay. They got the message by now we are working on it. We did not forget them. We delivered a playable english version and the rest we are ironing out. It might begin to look like a developers forum thread otherwise. Yes, I wholeheartly agree. Let's switch to email.

Thanks for the input Jericho, I think I am going to add you to my buddylist.:) Thanks. It's good to work with you.

Thanks Jericho. The info you got from Timon was very good. I did not need to re-translate a mission file from frenchor polish. I optimized our final one and it solves the problem both for saved and new games. You can easily do it yourself as follows:
- Install Timotheus with Darkloader
- Click the Dromed button
- When the mission is loaded chose Optimze in the tools menu
- After about half an hour (depending on your computer) it it finished.
- save the mission as miss22.mis
- close dromed and darkloader
- add the miss22.mis to the fin_tim_mul.zip
I have a zipfile with a patch on my website for those of you who rather not mess with dromed. It contains only the updated miss22.mis file and is 4 Mb in size.
When all is done, we come with a true multi lingual distibution (if all goes well). You can wat for that too of course.

:D
I have just put the miss22.mis, and all textures are well in their place. :thumb:

I've just downloaded the french version from epithumia's site and played it on my work pc in my office and the textures are just fine.
Therefore, the french version of Tymoteusz is not corrupted. :cheeky:
I didn't optimize when I saved the fm in Dromed after changing names of the objects.
I did like this :
-I load the mission in darkloader and open it in Dromed.
-I do my little changes
-I save the .cow
-I save the specific gamesys .gam
-Then I open again the .cow
-To make things sure, I open again the .gam with set_gamesys tym25.gam e.g.
-And finally I save the .mis.
Far shorter than optimizing...

Long Finger - Perhaps you could send Epitumia the zip pack with the optimized .mis file, so he could replace it on his site? In this way, all the taffers willing to play this FM wouldn't have to go throught the process of optimazing. And so we can solve the problem pretty quickly. What do you think?
By the way, is Nightwalker still around? I remember she mentioned she was busy last days... No rush, of course, but I remember she couldn't wait to play the English version of Timoteus. And last days were sort of hectic with a lot going on (textures etc...)
Lady Jo on 28/1/2003 at 11:15
I sent on the site of Epithumia, the English version with good textures at the moment. :)
Long Finger on 28/1/2003 at 12:18
Stephan_Key, it looks like Lady Jo just put the updated version on the site when you downloaded it. Thank you very much for reporting.:thumb:
[edit]
I just saw that you downloaded the French version from epthumia, and Lady Jo has been updating the english version. You are quite right Stephan_Key. I checked the french as well and it looked fine. So your methode works obviously for translating, but not for repairing the mission at hand. I optimized it because otherwise I would have needed to do the exporting/translation job again from the french miss22.mis file.
I mentioned it ere so people can do it theirselves and do not need to download it again. For some it is quicker than downloading even the patch of 4Mb, especially when you have a slow connection.
Thanks anyway, I apprediate your input. Maybe next time I will use your methode.
[/edit]
And thank you Lady Jo, for updating the file on Epithumia's site.:thumb:

I want to join in thanking Lady Jo for putting the file on Epitumia's site.

Yes, you're right, my method works for little things.
Just hoping one more thing : I don't want to be sued again by Jericho or Long Finger, it cost me a lot last time. :joke:

Will this tool be available in the darkloader menu or in the in-game menu (options) ?

I'm here! I've actually been buried up to my nose in Timoteus for the last day or so and having a great time playing it! What a terrific mission! It's quite difficult, though, so I'm really glad there's that lovely long thread full of hints already sitting there, as I've had to go to it for hints several times. I THINK I'm close to being done, but this is a mission that will get played many more times! Thanks so much for doing the translation, Jericho and Long Finger. I'm sure I wouldn't have enjoyed it nearly as much if I couldn't read everything.
I've been playing the one with the missing textures, so I'll make sure to download the fixed copy before I replay it. :)
