Do we know is playing Hayden and Anne Smiley ? Be very interesting to see who fills these roles - Anne Smiley might be very hard to get right.
If it pans out, I'd love to see them go on and do the other two books in this 'trilogy' - the honourable schoolboy and smileys people in particular (love the whole entrapment mission in switzerland with Toby Esterhaze).

Bill Haydon is played by Colin Firth, Anne by by an essentially unknown Russian named Katrina Vasilieva.

Colin Firth eh ? It might work - I guess the producers could hardly turn Darcy down, given the recent Oscar. Bill Hayden's character came across as the golden boy of the Circus - intellectually gifted, led a charmed life as a spy, came from the right type of family and went to the right sort of schools, life of the party etc....(Kim Philby anyone ?). Women (and men) wanted him, and men wanted to be him. Colin Firth strikes me as being too 'dour' for the role, but we'll see how it pans out.
How ironic that Anne Smiley will be played by a Russian.
