I was experimenting with Dewdrop in the Trail of Blood level. It seems that the only requirement for Dewdrop to activate is that at least two Mechanists have to be chasing you. I didn't need to have Dewdrop selected and it seemed to work on all the skill levels.
When you have two chasing you, you hear the girl's voice and Dewdrop appears in the air surrounded by a red glow. The Mechanists act like they were exposed to a flashbomb. Over time, Dewdrop fades, although the red glow lasts for a while after he's faded away. It just floats in the air where he was.
I guess that's why I never saw him work. I try not to get chased, and especially not by two or more enemies. :)

Wait! Are you guys saying Dewdrop's powers are a myth, or that Rekrul's information's not accurate?

All I know is that my version of the game says it's 1.18 Final and as long as I have two Mechanists chasing me, Dewdrop acts like a flashbomb. I specically tested it in Normal, Hard and Expert and I made sure that Dewdrop was
not selected in the inventory. In fact, I made sure that I selected something else, pressed Backspace to clear the display and then ran past two Mechanists. Once I got both of them in the same area, Dewdrop appeared.
Unfortunately, I didn't find him all that helpful. I'd be running, hear the girl's voice, turn around and see the Mechanists doing the blinded animation, but by the time I black-jacked the first one, the second one usually recovers and attacks me. I'm not saying that the affect doesn't last long enough, just that since it's not something you trigger intentionally, by the time you realize it's happening, you've already lost some time.

I knew about Dewdrop, Rekrul.
I don't know what Sluggs was thinking of when he replied, but crunchy's sounds like incredulity, unless it's intentional obfuscation.:D
I'm gonna look for that thread where a dev talked about giving Dewdrop that ability.
