Today, Thief Deadly Shadows is equally old as Thief Dark Project was when Deadly Shadows came out (five years, five months and twenty four days).

I would have rather had you merely point out that interesting fact. Why did you attach this strange poll to it? :p

I chose the first one. I think it's down to the rate of graphical improvement, in all games in general. Over time it seems to have decreased.

Yep. This is what I say to taffers that prefer TDS who argue about how outdated the older titles were when they played TDS and sought the older titles. TDS is now as old as the TDP was when TDS came out, so shaddup. They never think of facts like that.:thumb:

Understood, but I always get at least a little queesy whenever Dark gets compared to Deadly (for whatever reason). :p

This doesn't phase me. What phased me was the day I realized that System Shock 2 was older than SS1 was when SS2 came out.

I had to vote for option three, as I'd never heard of Thief until I bought TDS. However I also wouldn't have voted for the first option, as when I'd finished TDS, I bought TG/TMA and fell in love with them immediately.
I'm not one to judge a game by it's glitz or conversely, it's age. I've actually quit several supposed "Grade A" titles as I felt they were too much dressing, and not enough meat. So my reaction to the first two games as compared to TDS wasn't one of shock or "Oh god is this dated". It was purely and simply "Whoohoo! More Thief!" If anything, I was rather impressed by the motion capture of the AI.
Regarding the age of TDS, I feel like it's been much longer. But based on life events, not on aging technology.

wow, that is really an abominable statistic:(
I voted for option 1 and 4 ;)

even if the first two are outdated, with inferior graphics and all that, it's still super engaging. Sure, there are times where you think "yeah. this is pretty old" By the way things look.. But the sound is still amazing.
And I enjoy playing those more than I ever do playing Dark Shadows.
That may be because I have it for xbox.
