Just tried the demo - very disappointing. The Assist Off mode was particularly awful. It felt awkward and detached. If this was an attempt to differentiate the game from other air combat shooters it wasn't a very imaginative effort. The Assist On mode wasn't great either. The rear view seemed very fixed or something, I can't quite put my finger on it. I had high hopes for this one but I won't be buying, until it hits the bargain bucket maybe...

So is there something, like, a cockpit view?

Yes. The shitastic 3rd person "assist off" mode is only necessary during the tutorial mission, at least in the demo.
Why haven't you tried the demo, BTW?

What's your connection speed? I'd find it hard to imagine that there's as many first world countries with broadband infrastructures as backward as New Zealand's. We only just unbundled the government-owned copper wire local loop in late 2007. My connection plan is supposed to be "full speed" ADSL, which in reality has never been faster than 1.5Mbps.
Is Poland is even considered "first world"?

Only by polish government.
Though it's mostly the fact that I live in some little godforsaken dorf somewhere in the middle of a forest. With bears.
If I lived in the city, I'd have no problem getting ~5x faster connection for same price.

After playing the demo, I'm disappointed. The basic gameplay is fun, but the game prevents you from doing any cool maneuvers in Assist On mode and when I'm in Assist Off mode I have real difficulty figuring out which direction I'm aimed in, which makes dogfighting a bitch.

Didn't someone mention that after the tutorial you can fly in assists off mode from the cockpit camera? Oh yeah it was 4 posts above yours.

Hurr. And on a Google search for 'hawx assist off cockpit', the first four links all state unequivocally that it's not possible. Reading comprehension. Use it.

You're the last person to be chastising someone for lack of reading comprehension, by the way.
