To Bikerdude: --your British?! That's ironic: I've just returned from a one week school trip to England. We've visited Oxford, Bath, and Canterbury.
To everyone: Does your night vision work properly or not?

Is there a way to completely disable Night Vision in the mod? I don't think I'd even touch a mod that adds a night vision item to the inventory. Can this item be removed?

Luthien,
I don't see the problem: You're not forced to use the night vision. If you want to use it, use it. If you don't, than just don't use it.
I mean, like the game doesn't force you to use any other item (like the oil flask) either...
Just try out the mod, and you might even like the MOD. But do read the readme - at least the "installer" part, which is the most important part.
I hope you like it (it would be a waste of all my time I put in this MOD if people don't like it).
Regards,
Tony W Ayalew.

For me, having a night vision item in the inventory is like carrying a machine gun - even if I'm not forced to use the items.

Luthien,
You're not "carrying" the night vision. I haven't evene actually called it an night vision in the inventarory. It's called the mechanical eye (which Garrett wears anyway). The night vision is a light placed in the mechanical eye (garrett's right eye). Using the Mechanical Eye Item will toggle a light in the mechanical eye on/off. So, it's not like you're wearing night vision goggles (like splinter cell), it's just an mechanical eye with a light which you can toggle on or off. When you start the game, the light is off.

* I didnt install JohnP's texture pack, because for me half of his textures change the atmosphere of the game - I have emailed him asking if he minded if I altered some of the textures in his pack, but have yet to hear anything.
Sorry about that (I'm rarely in here anymore, and some of my mail is snapped up by the spam filter). If you find that some of my textures alter the game in a detrimental manner, that's OK with me (it's a matter of taste, and I'm not 100% happy with all of them myself either), but I'd suggest it's better to start from "scratch" like I did; that is to say start with the original texture(s) as a guide and work your way to where you're satisfied with the result in-game. Especially if you find that I've moved too far away from the originals; if you use mine as a base I'm not sure how far you'd get in restoring the feel of the original from there.
Additionally, I gave Tony permission to alter a few of my textures for his mod, but since I did spend quite some time on the texture pack project over a couple of years total, I'd rather not "let them loose" completely and have them spread in all kinds of variations, slightly altered to taste. For personal use though; go wild. :)

Hello John,
I haven't heard from you in a long time.
I only used a few of your textures: Garrett's Upper and Lower body (not his face), all puddles, and a few menu things.
I edited the mechanical eye texture myself (not a big change).
You might want to check out my MOD (though some people seem to hate it).

The question you should ask yourself Tony, is 'do YOU like your MOD'? You should also ask, "Who did I make this mod for?". In my humble opinion, you were not making this mod with the Thief community in mind, and I told you as much last year.
If you're happy playing your Mod, then that's all that matters. When I made The Minimalist Project, many people hated aspects of it that they couldn't tweak and many loved it just as it was. I designed Minimalist to be as close to T1 and 2 as I could, it wasn't a tweaking device and I stood by that....because I made my Mod for ME.
If you are more concerned about other people enjoying your Mod, then you'll need to change some things...if you are happy enjoying your mod and don't care if the masses use it...forget about it and move on. Otherwise, you're just wasting your energy worrying about something that really doesn't matter in the long run. Focus on new things. Make another mod.

New Horizon, thanks for the advice (I mean it).
It's a long story, but in the end I have the following conclusion: First I wanted the mod for myself, durtbag, and also send it to you and John-P. But than it told people about it on TTLG forums, and before I knew it I promised to make it public. And I nearly always do what I promise. But basically, it's just for myself and I like it. I just hoped others would like it too. Guess I was wrong.
Regards,
Tony.
