Tool/Defones/Thief-Soundtrack Mix... - by DreadLord

Greetings,
I´m a big fan of progressive metal music and recently I started to think about that there are some similiarities between the Thief Soundtrack and those bands....Thief uses some Metal "elements" plus dark/mysty electronic elements (both bands too)...
So I´m came to the conclusion that it might be interesting to mix some Tool/Deftones Songs with the Thief (DS) Soundtrack....
I have absolutely no xpirience about creating/mixing music on the computer so maybe some experts out there will try this...
What do you think about?

This is the Thief forum, and his post is Thief-related, so I don't see how it's off-topic.
As to DreadLord's suggestion, I'm sure it's a decent idea, but I can't help feeling you'd have more success if you invested a bit of time and effort into creating such works yourself.

What?
Although I cannot speak so much for Deftones, what the hell would there be to gain from adding Tool to a thief soundtrack. Just because thief features a few metal influences (far different from those of tool unless you go wayyyy back) doesn't mean you need to jump in and mix them together.
I'm sure that someone got paid nicely to compose the soundtrack for thief which served its purpose nicely, ie. as a soundrack. These people are experts at what they do, and if you have no experience with this kind of thing, I would wager you're better off leaving it to those who get paid.
I don't want to come accross like I belong to that group of people, but you do see way to many hack attempts at blending styles of music to be uber prog...
Anyway I'd be very interested to see where you come up with these dark/mysty electronic elements in tool... Yes, there is a huge esoteric element to their music, but as to the electronic elements, they are usually quite cold and harsh - chalk and cheese when compared with the electronic elements present in thief music.
You're lucky that there isn't a real tool nutcase hiding in this forum, cause he/she would probably hunt you down just for saying something like that.

if you want to mix thief's music with something else, why not use ulver? excellent group, and the music would fit quite well (especially some of the stuff from lyckantropen themes.)

oo!
i just love ulver
never met anyone who knew them, let alone liked them
some stuff is quite thiefy.. lyckantropen themes is one
could definately imagine something like that in a thief level
some of their older "metal" stuff is quite horrible though
but everything in between is awesome

As a song writer I recently wrote a song that is "linked" to Thief in a way. But it's more in the Power Metal genre.

*punch*
bergtatt is one of the most excellent albums that band has ever released.

i just don't like music that is one high pitched guitar chord being strung to infinity and some random gibberish getting mumbled on the mic, and fill the whole album with that same stuff
it's been two years since i listened and promptly deleted the older albums, so i can't be sure of the description anymore
but the newer stuff is brilliant and well purchased and shelved for conscience
