Just curious - straw poll for those who are also interested, list your top 10 games on Steam by hours played. Here are mine (hours played):
01 - Skyrim (293)
02 - Dark Souls (202)
03 - The Binding of Isaac (155)
04 - XCOM: Enemy Unknown (115)
05 - Titan Quest: Immortal Throne (107)
06 - Borderlands 2 (101)
07 - Borderlands (101 - eerie)
08 - Civ 5 (91)
09 - Mass Effect 2 (85)
10 - AC: Brotherhood (77)
Interesting to note that I've only completed 4 games on the list (in italics). On thing's for sure, that's a loooot of time spent playing games :/
Al_B on 6/11/2014 at 13:10
Hmmm...
01 - The Binding of Isaac (243 hrs)
02 - Super Meat Boy (144 hrs)
03 - Terraria (99 hrs)
04 - Plants vs Zombies (89 hrs - must have left the PC running this at some point!)
05 - Beyond Good & Evil (88 hrs)
06 - Fallout: New Vegas (78 hrs)
07 - Skyrim (59 hrs)
08 - Super Hexagon (50 hrs)
09 - Psychonauts (44 hrs)
10 - Saints Row IV (39 hrs)
With the exception of Terraria I've "completed" all of them. Not necessarily to the extent of getting every achievement but the main game storyline or level has been finished. Most of the games I've spent the most time with recently have been those you can quickly dip in and out of - quite a few of the times above are from loads of very short sessions rather than hours spent at a time.

1. Deus Ex: Human Revolution - 40 hours
2. Saints Row: The Third - 38 hours
3. Mass Effect 1 - 35 hours
4. Dishonored - 31 hours
5. Fallout 3 - 30 hours
6. Binfinite - 30 hours
7. Sleeping Dogs -29 hours
8. Red Faction: Guerrilla - 28 hours
9. Hitman: Absolution - 28 hours
10. Resident Evil 6 - 28 hours
So, I did a double-take when I read that list. I guess I take my time with games that allow for an open-ended approach (though if they've got good grephix, a lot of time goes in admiring the details). And I've spent far too much time on some that were kinda shit - like Absolution.
RE6 isn't shit though, because it's exactly 105.78% more entertaining when played co-op by lying on your back and scootching your ass through an entire level:

Out of curiosity - do you game mostly off of Steam, play a wide variety of games 1 or 2 times or just not game very much?
Because your top 10 are all relatively low contrasted against the small sample of Al and myself.
Either way, by those stats, it seems you don't play any particular game a lot.
Sulphur on 6/11/2014 at 14:01
It's a bit relative. All the games on my list are complete though, except for DLCs. I'd say I've spent a good deal more time on a game like Dragon Age: Origins, and roughly about 30-40 hours on ME2/3/DA2/Dead Space 3. Those I load up outside of Steam, so they won't show up.
But yes, they'd tend to be the exception rather than the rule. I've got a fairly massive base of installed games and don't tend to spend too much time on any one of them in particular; I suppose that means I don't do long-term commitments and instead tend to flit around looking for the next shiny thingamabauble.
I'd never thought of myself as the flighty sort until now. :(

I'm worse. I ordinarily have around 10 games installed and I rarely seem to complete any.
Malleus on 6/11/2014 at 14:09
01 - Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition - 468 hrs
02 - DARK SOULS™ II - 398 hrs
03 - Fallout: New Vegas - 183 hrs
04 - Borderlands 2 - 152 hrs
05 - Fallout 3 - Game of the Year Edition - 92 hrs
06 - Mass Effect - 74 hrs
07 - Dishonored - 59 hrs
08 - METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE - 54 hrs
09 - Deus Ex: Human Revolution - 41 hrs
10 - Saints Row: The Third - 36 hrs
I completed the main story in all of them, and often went back to get some achievements and stuff. Also, out of these, the Dark Souls 2 and MGR playtime are from this year, the rest is older. I play few games all in all, but spend a lot of time with those I chose to play.

1. BioShock Infinite - 180h
Err... don't think that's correct. I played through it once, I'd estimate it took me about 12-13 hours. The rest of this list looks right tho.
2. Frozen Synapse - 106h
3. Dark Souls II - 95h
4. Thief - 54h (wow, didn't expect that. Did play through it twice tho, so I guess it checks out.)
5. Dark Souls - 51h (do have another 100h on the XBox as well)
6. XCOM: EU - 51h
7. DX:HR - 46h
8. Dead Island - 43h
9. FTL - 43h
10. Dishonored - 42h
Except for XCOM:EU I've completed all of them. Thief and DI twice even.

Damn, and I thought I was hardcore abotu DS. I think Malleus has all of us beat.
My list, which is actually sorta surprising.
1. Dark Souls - 107 hours
2. Mass Effect 2 - 74 hours
3. Mass Effect - 58 hours
4. Wasteland 2 - 57 hours
5. Deus Ex: HR - 51 hours
6. Dragon Age: Oranges - 50 hours
7. Civilization V - 48 hours
8. Super Meat Boy - 40 hours
9. Dishonored - 32 hours
10. Civ IV: Colonization - 26 hours
Both MEs clocked higher than they should have, because I recently replayed through both of them before firing off Mass Effect 3. And of course this doesn't include my PS3, where I've spent about eleventy billion hours playing through DS2, Persona 3, and Persona 4.

Good idea, lists are always fun: Here's mine, not nearly as diehard as some of y'all. I'm a bit of a late bloomer with Steam, and I've played a lot of stuff on consoles over the years too, before becoming pretty much an exclusive PC gamer in the last year or two:
1. Skyrim - 159 hours
2. Don't Starve - 121 hours
3. DXHR* - 59 hours
4. Thief* - 50 hours (can't believe this is so high)
5. Dead Island* - 43 hours
6. Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines - 34 hours
7. Dishonored* - 32 hours
8. Dungeons of Dredmor - 31 hours
9. Miasmata* - 30 hours
10. Fallout New Vegas - 24 hours
* = finished
Games like Far Cry 3, Fallout NV, Fallout 3, Oblivion, the Bioshocks, etc, would definitely be ahead of most of this stuff if I had played them exclusively on PC.
Another stat I calculated recently was this one - of the 272 games in my Steam account, there are 160 that I've never played or fired up. Ouch.
In ultra geek fashion, I actually keep a spreadsheet of all of my Steam purchases. Going purely by number of games purchased, it goes a little something like this:
2009 - 5
2010 - 4
2011 - 11
2012 - 32
2013 - 56
2014 - 67
That's looking like an ugly trend. I'm not even going to get into the "dollars spent" category. :wot:
