Add a working jukebox in the bar settings, as well as the pinball machines and pool tables. Let us play different songs (I am sure Alexander Brandon can write some great ones) and don't go charging us 100 credits a song!

I would like to see "intermission" levels where turtles shoot out of pipes and you have to smack them on the head with a large mallet. The pool tables in the game were nice, but I want to see playable card games, too. Also, I think JC should have a propeller on his head so he can get extra jump boost.

The things that bothered me the most about Deus Ex were:
1. Terrible voice acting.
2. There was no subtlety.
3. The augmentations were too powerful or too weak (The Regeneration aug compared to the Melee Combat aug).
4. Enemies only carried three bullets each.
5. Enemies were too freaking stupid.
6. Stealth wasn't rewarding.
7. The game was too linear.
8. It took too long to save and load.

Yea, all that and;
The Recycle and Heart Thingy Aug should be automatic.

I think the game should be bloodier like sof. The AI sucks ass. Their should be more guns.
terphi on 19/9/2000 at 03:35
Oh yeah, they should have had (convenient) hotkeys to turn on certain augmentations.
There never was a time when I wanted all augmentations on at once (and I would run out of bio-electricity in three seconds if I did). Besides, having the F keys activate augmentations was a bad idea in the first place, I have to move my hand off the WASD setup to turn on any augmentation and it was a pain in the ass hitting F12 every ten seconds.

Biggest change needed - lose the Unreal engine. I think for it to have worked as the sneaky game it really should be, it needed to Dark Engine from Thief. That rocked, plain and simple...

I agree with blowing a big hole through the Unreal travesty. But I'd say go with Quake 3 for the new engine. It's far nicer looking than Dark, which is a little outdated and underpowered. Face it, no-one but no-one can top id at pure technology.

Well hey, just get Ion Storm to get the Dark Engine from Eidos or whoever has the rights now and then update it so it runs better. The principle behind it was what made it so good, and was the reason why Thief sold so well.
