I just played the fan mission: Torben - The Traitor. In the game, as I left the residence and stepped onto the street, my computer froze. I had to reboot my computer. Even control-alt-delete did not function. I reloaded the saved mission twice and both times the mission froze as I stepped onto the street.
Has anyone else encountered this problem with this mission?

Nope. I played that mission recently and didn't have that trouble

I just replayed this mission from scratch but this time I played it with a 'fresh' computer. And the mission worked fine.
The first time I played this mission, I had done some websurfing and may be system resources were low or some other programs were still active in the background. Whatever.

Well, I sure feel inadequate!!!! Can't even get out of the dang well in the very beginning. Can only make it up and out like every 10th try and then I get zapped every time. Am I going about this the wrong way or something? Never had such trouble with a Thief mission/game.
:o

No, it's not you, joanieS. Getting out of that well and staying alive isn't easy. I just tried it and I can do it but it took several tries. If you save while you're on the rope near the top of the well, it's less annoying to keep trying it until you get it right. If you can manage to jump out when the patrolling guard is as far away as possible and the guard near the gate outside has his back to you, you might be able to do it without getting caught. As soon as you hit the floor, douse the torch with a water arrow and squeeze in close to the well. There's a dark spot there that you can hide in. Even if they alert, if you're lucky they won't come right into that corner, though they sometimes do. I also managed to get out into the back corner and crouch there without being discovered but it's a bit harder to get out of the well at the back. All I can suggest is to keep trying.

Also, Cathedral of the Damned screwed up my system somehow...
...I don't know. I was running Win98 at the time of these troubles. I haven't tried them out lately, except for CotD, and it seemed to work fine. Very weird.
Btw, does anyone know if Cathedral of the Damned is ever going to be finished, or are we stuck with a damned
beta for all eternity? As an unprofessional reviewer, I HATE that! ;)

Given it's going on two years old, I doubt it. Too bad, too...

Thanks, NW. I bit the bullet and just jumped out and started running for the nearest ladder. Lost almost all the health points and had to kill the one guard (I never do that!) in order to get on with it. After all that, the rest of the mission was a snap!

Yes indeed! My game crashes immediately, if I nearing the last drunken guard outside the house. But not my W2K.
A question regarding the loot: I'm still looking for 100 credits. I got already (809/200/500)
I found gold in the bed rooms of the guards, in the kitchen (bottles), almost all gold in the living room incl. the small ring. I didn't find gold in the basement, in the garden, on the roof of the house and in the sewers. I didn't found a secret room too.
Can somebody help me, where to find the remaining loot?

I'm afraid I don't have any record of loot for this mission. Maybe someone else will be able to help. I'd replay it but I'm having too much fun with the contest missions right now.
