Got a bit of a problem. Right before the entrance way to the spring village I went left and used a slow fall potion to drop down and pick up the healing potion, broadhead arrow and silver nugget at the bottom of the cliff face. Getting down their without taking any damage was easy, it's getting back out that's proving much more problematic. I can get to the first island just fine by downing the speed potion that I pickled up earlier at the pagan tower, and I can get from the third to the fourth island and from the fourth back on to dry land, but it's getting from the first island to the second one over the longest distance that is giving me all the problems. Is it even possible to make it across there without losing any health points at all?

I don't remember having that problem. At this posting I've only looked at one walkthrough to see if there was any information for you, and it just stated that there was "a long jump." I'll check around some more.

Now it seems I'm getting hit whilst still in mid-air. I'm assuming that it's the mist/vapour that's coming off of the lake, but damn is it annoying, :)

Sheesh. Maybe it's been too long, but I don't remember these things happening when I played through. It has been awhile. I'll be paying attention to that bit next time, though.

If all else fails you can try elevatoring out with a couple of flares (unless of course you don't like using bug exploits).

Are you sure you can't climb the slope?
I cannot remember having to jump over that foggy water to those islands...

I do not remember having trouble either. Try climbing the slope again, thatsd what I believe I did too.

Elevatoring out with a couple of flares? What exactly is that, and how do you do it?

Look straight down at the floor and DROP a flare. Now don't move, just jump up. Repeat until you have 1 flare left (because this flare won't levitate like the others). I think its like that.
Oops sorry yeah thats how you do it (below). I've never done it just read about it and thought "ahh cool".

Actually the process is as follows:
1. Look straight down
2. Drop a flare (it should now rest in Garrett's lap)
3. Look straight up
4. Drop a another flare (this one should rest on his head)
5. Look straight down
6. Grab the bottem flare and Jump (G should now be on the top flare)
7. Repeat from step 3.
You will need at least 3 flares (keys, apples and other food may also work).
Also remember to quicksave often as it takes some time and is easy to get wrong.
Once you get to the top just jump forward onto the floor (or mantle up onto it).
