Tribes: Ascend - New F2P Tribes game comes out this Fall

When he says it was a game designed for 16 v. 16 - did he mean the map he was playing on, or the whole game? Because if it's the latter that could explain the smaller levels (and make me much less enthusiastic for this).

Edit: Nice analysis from a hardcore triber (http://kotaku.com/tribesascend) on Kotaku. Speed/small mountains is of concern, but it's inspiring that he says just how close it is.

Poorly worded, but I think he meant "game" as in the match he was playing, not the whole game.

Aye, as far as I can tell from the vids, they all just got to play one map during the event so he can't be judged any others from it. I do hope for bigger maps/hills, that alone will make a huge difference (as T:V shows).

You can now pay $30 for various vip bonuses including access to the closed beta on Nov 4th. I was happy to learn with the F2P that everything can be unlocked via play, and even then the kits you unlock are intended to be balanced with all others. Only exception is some maps that (it sounds like) will be exclusive to VIP servers, which is fair enough. Should be okay - they've got a good explanation up on the forums.

Really wish they'd fix the guns taking up so much screen-space, though.

The VIP pack is a pretty cool idea - I'll probably get it if I like the game enough to support it. $20 is not a bad deal.

Mega-patch just released that introduces loadout customisation to make things a little bit more like the Tribes of old.

Hi-Rez are really truly trying their gosh darn hardest to make the community happy. The game has improved leaps and bounds and there have been some very ballsy overhauls during beta. The general reaction to the game has been very positive from both newbs and vets.

I've been playing Tribes regularly since I was 11 years old; I'm now about to turn 24. At this rate I may reach 30 :thumb:
