Definitely the best straight FPS I've ever played
Aw come on, I also like Crysis very much, but is it really
that good? Don't forget the late 1990s. :erg:

Just another reason why nobody takes denisv seriously.

Crysis is a straight FPS?

Fallout 3 = 10/10
Call of Duty 4 = 9/10
Left 4 Dead = 9/10 (or 10/10 if you get your money's worth playing online)
Dead Space = 4/10
Alternative opinion:
CoD4 - 6/10
FO3 - 8/10
Crysis - 8.5/10
Dead Space - 9/10
So, it's pretty much useless question ;)

was wrong; it's only playable at low settings. And it's uglier than Stalker, UT3, Bioshock (hey, any Unreal 3 game) and even the original Far Cry.
Yep, looks horrible, on high it's very different picture.

I know -- on high and very high the shaders become complex and realistic and the game looks quite nice, at 0.15 frames per second.

Deep Space seems like such a wild card...
so the quality of Crysis's graphics is more determined by shaders than AA?

AA kills Crysis, then rapes it.
In the eye.
While it's children are forced to watch.
Just stay away from that button.

If you played and liked Resident Evil 4 you most surely will like DS, the same goes if you liked inspired by RE4 Gears of War. I mean that DS has that "tactical battles in close quarters" style of gameplay; also, it uses economics (money/buying/selling/upgrade system) and has few mini-games. Even though any of those features was realized better in RE4. Stylistically it's quite close to Aliens the movie.

Of course, like virtually any game that uses shaders.

Just finished Crysis and I suspect its developers are somewhat mentally impaired. nothing beyond some American vs Korean generic fights topped off with some uninspired alien shite. lame boss battle. scant interaction w/ the environment. the biggest twist in the whole game is having to punch down a door in strength mode rather than punching it down without strength mode. the creators of Half-Life 2 actually had some brains.
the graphics are really the only redeeming factor, though not being able to play the whole game on high on a brand new machine somewhat offsets this. gamespot gave it a 9.5 out of 10 :nono: it really cannot be higher than 7, with most of those points coming for graphics. Far Cry 1 is definitely better.
installing dead space now.

If you love System Shock you will at least like Dead Space, at least once you get used to the controls/TPP. Then again I've told you this over Steam IM so I won't go into it again. ;) Enjoy the game!
