That's fortunate, at least, but yeah DX is totally broken before it's been patched. Which is about par for the course, as games of the era go.

I would say Deus Ex, but that's only because it's the only one of the three I've played.
The thing which is kind of funny about DX is that a lot of its individual elements are pretty mediocre to bad in quality (AI, graphics, voice acting, etc), but they all somehow come together to make a really kick-ass experience.
It's still my favorite game ever.

I'm surprised people here are so indifferent to Baldur's Gate. is there anything worthwhile about it?
It's ok (not great) if you've never played a Bioware (or Infinity Engine) game before.
One thing that will make you tear your hair out when playing it, is hearing "You must gather your party before venturing forth." repeated ad nauseam.

Oh god, for a moment I thought you meant the official novelisation and I was ready to scream heresy.

Fuck that trash. I'd rather read the Doom novels.
Koki on 21/10/2008 at 05:38
Yeah, no choices and consequences, the music, the scenery, dethtoll seriously that was one of the dumbest things you said.
Oh, and Baldur's Gate is awesome and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
june gloom on 21/10/2008 at 06:56
Coming from you I'll take that with a grain of salt. I'm allowed to not like a game because it's not fun for me.

That's pretty much the cardinal rule of TTLG Gaming discussion.

Thinking of Baldur's Gate, Deus Ex or Mass Effect
Baldur's Gate and Deus Ex virgin? Oh my gosh! Stop wasting time here, buy supplies for a year, lock yourself in your den, turn off your phone and play! First two are must-play classics. Mass Effect is recent RPG Nova as I hear - I'm looking forward to it.
