well, I guess I'm sold on the orange box.
I'm gonna milk this topic for all it's worth...
what do you guys think of final fantasy games?
I was a big fan of the 7th and then totally let down by the 8th. tactics was pretty cool. it seems the series completely fell off a cliff and i trust the last bunch of ff games are garbage. is ff3 the best one?

I generally hate jRPGs but I have a soft spot for FFs 6, 7, 9 and to an extent 12. 12 does a lot of things right- for example, no more random battles and no more fucking turn-based- then fucks it up by having a mandatory boss that's impossible to beat unless you grind for 6 hours. Pissed me off and I haven't played since.

I laugh at that list.
Why, pray tell?

I don't think all of the FF games were localised in the west, leaving some of the numbering jungled around.

Xenogears was great, until I hit the half-arsed 2nd disc. I played Disc 2 for a bit and then lost interest.

You know, sh0ck3r, there's such a thing called the Edit Post Button so you can stop doubleposting all over the place.

Neb is correct, some of the FFs weren't localized here in the US. So FF4 is FF2 in the US, and FF6 there is FF3 here.

Chrono Trigger is undeniably great. The other two, your mileage may vary- I wasn't too impressed with CC personally.

FF2 and FF3 here in the US are actually FF4 and FF6 by Japan's count, since the original FF2 and FF3 for the NES (which were completely separate stories from FF4 and FF6) never made it to the US. FF5 for the SNES also didn't make it here.
