Trying to run DromEd for the first time, keep getting the same error - by gfreeman

Just some info that may be helpful:
PC Specs:
Windows 11 Home
RX 7800 XT and Ryzen 7 9700X
Thief 2 Steam version w/ newest T2Fix (t2fix 1.27d I think)
I keep getting the same error "Cannot find GUI font (File: uigame.cpp, Line:60)", I've tried messing with some of the files, tried DromEd basic 1.14 to no avail, same with DromEd 1.18, I'm stumped honestly. I mostly just want to screw around with DromEd but's its really frustrating it keeps erroring and then crashing immediately. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

It sounds like some of the files haven't been extracted/copied.
From the toolkit, double check these things have been placed in the correct location:
editor.crf belongs in [Thief2 folder]\RES\
That contains the editor's font files.
One of the config files states the required font, so also double check that the toolkit's "Dromed.cfg" is in the main Thief 2 folder.
Step 4 of the toolkit's readme mentions some files to copy, but it could be easy to miss that step (but the Schema folder only needs to be copied if you're going to make FMs and require new sounds)
A bit more info here:

The Dromed Basic toolkit is a set of updates only, rather than a full installation package, but with the above checked it should run fine if you'd already selected the Dromed option in T2Fix.
If you still have problems, you can get a pure NewDark downlod here (1.27):
(

Installtion from that has two steps:
Extract the
contents of editor.zip to your T2 folder
Do the same for contrib.zip
(if you've already used T2Fix's Dromed installation and the Dromed Basic toolkit, for this method you should
not overwirte any existing files).

I did a search for "Cannot find gui font" and got a lot of possible reasons why this could happen. It's important to let everything install where it wants to go, and I vaguely remember long path names can cause issues too. I installed mine from the discs and have Thief in my C:\Thief2 folder & have no issues.
