Suggestion: If you haven't finished KOTOR 2 already, make sure you do. That way, you can see how much better the game will be with this.
Statement: I'm currently playing KotOR 2 without anykind of modifications. Finished KotOR 1 a while back. That gem certainly is the best game Bioware has ever made that I've played.

About time. It'll be nice to play one of my favorite games ever and actually have an ending!

I just installed KoToR on my laptop. I have never been able to get more than 2 hours into it, and I am determined to finish it now. I have owned it for 2 1/2 years for christ's sake!!! BTW...on the average, how many hours of gameplay is in KoToR? Thanks.

I recall sinking 40-60 hours into the Xbox version of KOTOR1. Farking great game. The starting planet is gay, but stick with it. It gets way better later on, especially when playing as a Dark side Scout-Consular or Scout-Sentinel (Soldier and Guardian are rubbish, don't bother). Also don't auto-assign stats during character creation, guaranteed way to create a crap character.
I highly recommend dual wielding, two sabres = 2x the number of sabre crystal slots. Upgrade the Dual Wielding feat + use a short-blade sabre/vibrablade in the off-hand to significantly lessen the penalty.

Awesome, I'm up for a new run through the game and I got rather excited when I first heard of this project. I'm a bit nervous, though, since I'm using Vista (yeah, yeah, chuckle away, came with the PC) and a friend of mine told me he couldn't get the KOTOR games working on it.
In the meantime, I gotta get this off my chest... SW: KOTOR 2: TSLRP.

I'll go out and buy me a copy of the PC version just to check this out, if it turns out to be good.
TSLURP had better not disappoint!

I don't think I could stand another run through of either of the Kotor games.
The HK was brilliant, even if his "Statement" thing was ripped off from somewhere that I can't remember. General dialogue was pretty great but the game got piss poor boring after an hour or two.

Actually if you want to be extremely overpowered, go with Scoundrel to start, level up as high as you can before becoming a Jedi (to get the maximum Sneak Attack bonus, usually I'd get level 9 or so) and then take Jedi Guardian. The Guardian's high HP bonuses negates the Scoundrel's pathetic physique, and the best part of the combination:
The Guardian's Force Jump (jump at an enemy and whack them with your saber) means you catch the enemy flat-footed according to d20 rules, so you get a very hard hitting initial blow plus sneak attack damage. I would routinely hit guys for 70-90 without critical this way, then start mashing Master Flurry if that didn't one-shot-kill them. It one-shot-killed most things.
Not only that, Sneak Attack was ridiculous once you became a Jedi and took any Force power that would incapacitate the enemy (Stun, Stun Droid, Force Whirlwind/Wave, Fear/Horror/Insanity, etc) because while they were down for the count, every attack gained Sneak Attack bonus!
I still prefer Sith Lords to the original, but I do miss one thing from KOTOR1: the availability of spare lightsabers. They are few and far between in Sith Lords, and you have (depending on influence and dialogue paths taken) potentially far more Jedi to arm with lightsabers.
Just don't bother giving Mira a lightsaber once she's become a Jedi. She sucks with them, but she's a walking juggernaut with two fully upgraded pulse-blaster pistols. Exile + Mira + Kreia = best Light-side group (with Exile + Mandalore/Hanharr + Kreia as the best dark-side group). It's always good to have at no more or less than one ranged character. Sadly the Dark side path lacks the best ranged character (Mira) and instead gives you more melee bruisers. Guess that's why I always played as the spell-casting "mage" Jedi when playing dark side, to provide fire support.

Sorry for the thread necromancy, I guess I kinda jumped the gun last year. Never expected it to take this long. But this just appeared out of nowhere:

The "Summer 2008" at the end is a typo, it's suppose to read 2009. Once again, sorry for bringing this back, but I'm just too damn excited not to say anything.

AFiH will be happy to hear about this. She got fired then evicted and is trying to get back on her feet, but this will be a nice present for her when she gets her PC out of storage.
