I've got the Keymaster's key, and..
Edited OMG at 2.45 am! Time for a nap I think :wot:
I ventured up the chimney, and all made sense from there on
I enjoyed this mission immensly! Thank you Steven Hindley :D

Oh my God !!!
After playing a couple of short Fm's, I pick this one!
Normally, I have a keen sense of direction, and many times I use the compass sparingly. But this mission had me turned around so consistantly and so often, that I don't know where I am at the best of times. Before I get to my question, I would like to say that this rates better than the 7 it was given. I'd give it a 9 except for the library and the FAR too many books to read.
Now the question, I think, is pretty straight forward. It wasn't answered in any of the earlier threads, so no doubt the answer is simple enough. Where is the Keymaster House ???? The map makes no mention of it, not that I could read, and the only house I know of is the Hooker House. Now behind this house, there are two doors that are locked, accessed by hacking the wood planks blocking the passageway. Is this where I have to go? How do I get in ?
As far as the locks are concerned, I've got all lockbox keys except 2&3. I'm assuming they will be in the areas I can't access yet. Meanwhile, I have my rope arrow ready and I'm going to scout around for second story windows I missed somehow.

The keymasters house is pretty straightforward, I believe it actually has a little note next to the door saying what it is. Anyway:
It's besides the arches above which is the keeper complex, to your left when you're facing the keepers. The blocked doors lead to the house of the unfortunate thief the hammers took in a few days earlier. About the keys, IIRC, number three is the bakers, it's somewhere in his shop. Number two I don't remember.
Thanks Zapman...I found the rest of the lockbox keys, and then found the keymasters house. I had ransacked that place very early on.
btw.....is that Euen floating in the pool where the Master's key was ? I ned to deposit him in his bunk in order to fulfill an objective.

That was a great FM. But I missed a secret. Most of the secrets you had to find in order to complete the mission, but I guess one of them was inconsequential.
1. In Eluen's house there was a jewel box nailed under a counter. But there was also a mousehole on the second floor that looked like it led to another room. Is this so?
2. I think the accessway to the Master Key, in the basement of the Keymaster, was a secret.
3. The button in the safe was a secret.
What did I miss ?
For what it's worth, I would easily rate this one a 9. The locked doors had me fooled until I realized there was more than one way to gain entry. And the nude in the shower was a great touch, no pun intended. I initially used her as a shield from one of the guards who chased me in. I found out she was a guard herself when I clubbed her another time. Priceless fun !!

:wot:
I did a couple of things that I thought would give me the fourth secret.
1. Getting the Sword Of Balance
2. Finding the wine cellar at the Krayman Inn.
But neither of these registered. Also, those two locked doors right at the beginning, that were boarded up at the entranceway...I STILL can't unlock either one of them.

I love this mission, too. It's one of my favourites and I've played it quite a few times. The mousehole does lead to another small room. You only have to get in there on Expert, though.
As for secrets,
#1. Look under a wine barrel in the Inn wine cellar for a lever (or button). #2. On the top floor of the Dockmaster's house, there's a secret door on the ledge above the elevator. #3. Button in the safe in Smythe's house. #4. Eluen's Cash box.
Just smash open the boarded up doors. There's no key. :)

Damn...I thought there should be something more to that wine cellar, but I should have "crept" around as well as looked around.
That was the missing secret for me.
Those locked doors.....that was a bit of a rip-off, having to slash your way in with the sword. I wonder if I could only do that with the Sword Of Balance. Either way, there was every indication that a key was needed to open them, so I never thought to use a sword.
Still, it was a great level and one I will return to. But, I'm going to try the sequel now...
Shoreleave.

Any sword will do to break those doors open, just watch out for the no doubt alerted police. Breaking the locks this way isn't exactly silent.

I know the layout of the land solidly enough that I can run away if found. Thankfully, this FM doesn't have super-fast guards. I hacked my way through both doors and retrieved some loot, padding my total close enough to maximum to call it a day and continue with Shoreleave.
btw....is there a story behind incorporating ultra-fast chasing guards. I find some fan missions use this little tweak to make things that much more difficult for Garret. I'm not complaining, but I get very nervous when I hear footsteps chasing behind me really really close and invariably I get a glimpse of their sword revelaing how close they actually are. No time to shoot a rope arrow and climb out of harms way or duck into the shadows.
Just curious, it's used in some fan missions but not others.
