Clock,
If you're playing the The Trickster's Gem Mine series for the first time, you're in for some fun.
Keep a sharp lookout for the talking fish!

I didn't realize it was a series, and I noticed that the first was a Thief 1 FM. I can't remember if I played that one or not, but this Shoreleave is the follow-up or seond in the series, right?
Talking fish? Is this a Soprano's type reference? Well, I'll find out soon enough. I'm sure I'll be posting a Shorleave thread any day now.

...I just CANNOT seem to jump in through Smythe's window. I had no trouble at all with the other two windows on this street...

You could be trying to get in the wrong window. There are two, if I remember correctly. One is in a brighter area and easier to see, but it's almost impossible to get into it for some reason. If you go a little farther up the street, there's a second window in the shadows that you'll be able to climb in. :)

I also had this problem, my stubborn mind insisted I tried the same window for ten times before getting the idea to look around and notice the much larger window a bit up the street, the room it let's you into has a door into the room you couldn't jump into.

The window which I cannot get through is the one almost directly across the street from the Dock Master's window. I will have to go check this out more carefully tonight...
Nightwalker on 24/10/2002 at 16:56
Yes, that's the wrong one. Go farther up the street and look for one in the shadows. :)

Strangely, I did once make it in through the small window, but only after I'd only fallen down on the last try before that, so I was left with four shields. I loaded and tried to repeat it to no avail. So technically, it is possible, but good luck trying to do it.

I'm really stuck on errand boy. I went through this underground area with spiders and the such until i reached this secret door which opened automatically and so I went inside and now i'm in this room with paintings and tables and in a joining room there is what looks like a vault door. I don't have the key for the wooden do in the first room and it is unpickable. Can I get through the vault door? It needs two 4-digit codes which I dont have or can i get through the wooden door somehow? I tried using fire arrows and they didnt work. Help....
