I hope you have a save from before that point, because as far as I can tell, there's no way to open that door from the inside. I've never closed the doors behind me so I didn't realize that one would relock but I just tried it out and it did it on me, too. Things like this are what make it a very good idea to not use just "Quick save" but to have multiple saves throughout a mission so you can backtrack, if necessary.

They are meat locker doors, only open one side, not the side of the vault, trap for thieves who like to shut self locking doors.
Last person to get locked in there was Brother Small, he ended up at Quintock Lunatic Asylem as a tree, a strange looking tree, but a tree all the same, he drank some water from somewhere he shouldn't ought to, and got turned into a fruit tree. :weird:

I searched the forum but haven't found anything answering my questions.

2. [SPOILER]In the Hammer Barracks I stole a Burrick Chopping Cleaver. IS there a secret or easter egg connected with it. Does it serve any function?[/SPOILER]

1. used in the other missions upto the metal tower, where you have to use it to do something.
2. It was used by the cook to chop up burrick meat.
3. Used in making tracks mission
4. Sod knows, play the next load of missions before asking strange questions. :tsktsk:

ok, Ive gotten quite far into this mission. loving so far, so much to do.
But I have one problem ...
I cant find a way into smithe's house (general director of the tricksters gem mine) :erg:
Ive been into the dock-masters house but I cant find anything useful apart from the dock masters house key.
I'm playing on expert difficulty.

A visit to the bankers house(key masters house), or the offices in the bank might help, something like readable info.
theres a key on a table somewhere the only entrance is up.
Ack theres a drowned man here, is he hiding anything.

I had already been in the keymasters house and had searched everywhere. but the body wasn't in the bath tub :confused: So i had to start again. and I found it

Ive gone through the mission again and the body still isnt there. ive started again 6 times so far. :grr:
