As you can probably guess, I finished Shore Leave; pretty low on the loot -- only 2709 out of 4479 (a mere 1770 short!) -- but on the other hand, I did ghost it. Didn't get the secret, though; I had no desire to return to the Mechanists' warehouse.
In USC, I exited the sub, found a ladder, and climbed it. This led to a path: one direction went back toward the sub or the building or somesuch, the other into a cave leading to some airlocks. Is it worth heading into the building right there at the submarine dock? Should I have opened the other cargo holds on the sub itself?

I don't remember anything important in that area, so you're probably fine. This part of the mission is fun to explore, especially if you like climbing. :)

I got through the "lava tube" area and the "houses on stilts" area and teleported via the northern teleporter to --
[spoiler]-- to the Land of Blue Apes. I picked up some more pages of Indiana Jones's diary; I have pages 1-22 inclusive. I got the emerald snake head from the house you get to by crossing a beam over the lava river.
I'm currently standing in good shadow near the central plinth, the one the fire-elemental-burrick-apes (FEBAs) keep walking around.[/spoiler]
Now what? I don't really know where to go next or what to do. I assume that some combination of things I have already or can get hold of here will allow me to teleport back somewhere... but what? And where is all the loot? There is supposed to be 3787, and I have only found about 1000 so far!

All right, I found three of the snake heads:
[spoiler]I put them in their proper places, got the yellow tetrahedronal bridge key, got to the temple with the diamond snake head.
I got the head all right... but now I can't get out of there! There are now three FEBAs, all staring at the way I came in, which appears to be the only way out. Whenever I try to exit, they see me, which ends the game (FailOnSee). They shift slightly, but they don't seem to shift enough that they're not looking at the exit. And there is a glowing magic mushroom right there![/spoiler]
What do I do? How do I get past this spot without blowing my ghost? Is there another way out? I even tried clubbing the mushroom, frobbing it, and shooting it with an arrow, but nothing turned it off.

I've never tried ghosting this one, so I don't think I'm going to be much help. Maybe Peter Smith? I don't know if he ghosted this one or not.

The game keeps abruptly ending with the skull & crossbones... but I'm not dead!
[spoiler]I got past the waterfall. There is a shaft you can swim down, but I couldn't transition from swimming down to swimming along the horizontal shaft.
So I went to the place where the silver nugget is, where there is a wooden floor over water. I threw a barrel of unstable gunpowder at the floor, and it was blown away.[/spoiler]
I jumped in the water... and just about the time the fish comes up to me -- the game ends with a skull and crossbones. I'm not drowning; I have plenty of air.
I tried avoiding the fish and just swimming up the hole in the wall, but the game ends anyway.
I remembered that I had FailOnSee set and figured maybe they consider this being seen by an enemy. All right; I quit, removed FailOnSee from my user.cfg file, and restarted. Same thing. I restarted, saved, then quit; I restarted again... same thing.
What the heck is going on?! Why is the game terminating? And what do I do about it?

I don't know why it's ending there but there's another way out of the underground area that doesn't involve the swimming. Try doing a bit more exploring and maybe you'll be able to by-pass whatever glitch you've hit.

What other way out? If you mean the trick with the barrels to be able to rope up to the ledge, I would love to...
[spoiler]-- but I have no idea in the world how I'm supposed to arrange barrels so that I can climb onto one. The only place I saw this discussed was so vague as to be meaningless to me. I tried for forty mintes arranging the barrels every which way, but in no circumstance was I ever able to mount one.[/spoiler]
If you mean some other way out, can you tell me what? I can't find anything else!

When I get out to the end...
[spoiler]...and head down the well and into the water there, and when the fish comes up to me -- the game terminates again! With skull and crossbones.
But -- this time, I had reloaded from before I blew up the floorboards. So what gives? What is triggering the fail?[/spoiler]
Does Belboz still exist? I remember something about somebody's computer being stolen, and he dropping off the face of the earth; is that Belboz, or is he still around?
(Is this a game problem or a mission problem?)

I've been down in there and not had the game fail like that, so I have no idea what is causing it to happen for you. There's nothing much down there though, so why bother? As for belboz, he seems to have disappeared since his computer was stolen with his missions on it. I don't know if he's coming back or not.
