rinscewind, the lucky head isnt supposed to be in your starting inventory, if you go to the barracks in Making Tracks there's a quite funny letter saying he "later found the lucky head in the street"
Rinscewind on 25/8/2004 at 21:05
The spoilers said it was needed later, and to put it in the room. I was part way through Making Tracks. I took the time to run through Errand again, but I was not going to replay three long missions if I didn't have to. I posted in the hopes someone would answer before I got to where I would need to use the head, so I didn't spend awhile in Tracks that would be wasted if I had to redo it.

The thing in the diamond headed snake temple does not move, it has holes in it, because a room brush center must be in empty space, and the only way to get the center of the room brush in empty space was to cut holes in the thing.
You can find the lucky head in errand boy, but garret loses it in shore leave, and the guard who had it finds it again is then transported across the river to end up in making tracks.
The golden bonce is found in up shit creek (if you find it, it's hidden high up) in the first part, the pirates base. And then gets used in making tracks. Projectiles amounts change, due to limitations, as in what have I got left when doing the alpha test.
The sword of balance is a bonus weapon found in errand boy, you need it to complete the metal tower mission, and so garrett has it with him from shore leave and onwards.
So what garrett needs from one mission will always be in his inventory in the following missions, untill it is used, and then it doesn't appear again.
eg the twin stars are found in making tracks, then garrett uses them in elsewhere, so you don't have them is chasm.
As for projectiles, garrett has been careless and has lost them. eg between errand boy and shore leave, he lost them escaping the guards. between shore leave and up shit creek, he fell asleep and broke some of them rolling about on them in his sleep, between up shit creek and making tracks, the keepers house you sleep in, nicked some while you were sleeping, between making tracks and the gem mine, you lost them in the underground stream, between the mine and elsewhere, you lost them in the time transferance, between elsewhere and chasm, you smashed them in the sliding jump in the tunnel. chasm 1 to chasm 2 you don't lose anything.

You usually have good story progression. Lots of details are provided. I just had no clue as to why it was gone (the head). Many missions, in different games (like in Soul Reaver) the hero needs something later that can be missed when playing an earlier level, so the programmers just provide it when needed. I tho't that the sword of balance was such a thing, when I found that some items cross missions. I found it the first time playing Errand, so I never started Shore Leave without having had it, but I assumed it would be a factor in future missions.
When I started Creek, I had things I picked up in Shore Leave, or it was a coincidence that I started with about the same number of things. When the head was not included (in Shore Leave), and there was no continuity for not having it, I just did not want to spend the time to replay 3 1/2 missions to get it back. :eww:
Thanks for the info on the 'hut' things. I have never used DromEd. I did mess with the mission builder in Delta Force a little, but that is not a programable application (as far as I know). It is just a big point and click program (I have never seen DromEd, it might be the same). The 'huts' stood out from other things in your missions, and I couldn't figure a use for them. :D

The stuff from shore leave that is needed creek is in the inventories at the start depending on the difficulty level. On normal you get a working coin, but on expert the coin is broken and you have to find a new one.
The hut things are precursor religeous mumbo jumbo things based on the crayman idols.

I only played Thief2, as it came with my system when I bought it.
I never knew what a burrick was until I saw one in an FM. I guess craymen were a thing of Thief1, also. If they were, then the craymen idols are things I never saw, either.
Thanks!

I made it to the temple, found my way back out.
I have 3 of the skulls. I am missing Thols skull. Been all over it seems but cannot locate it anywhere :(

I presume you mean Brother Phol's skull?? It's
in Lord Thumanite's office, on the main floor of his warehouse. Look for a hallway with a Watcher mounted in it.
