The key can be hard to find, so if you get stuck, either do a search for help or post, just put the difficulty level that you are playing on.
The skulls are optional but fun to do and you are well rewarded.

OK.
Shore Leave - I am now near the end of Up Shit Creek but never did find what to do with those skulls. I realise that you have to put them on a tomb but where is the tomb?
And where is the secret? I know its in the warehouse but I canny find it.
Also where is the second pyramid key. I have found one stowed in a secret compartment near the burricks but not the other.
Nightwalker on 19/3/2003 at 14:12
In Up Sh*t Creek, it depends what difficulty setting your playing on, where you'll find the yellow tri-keys.
If you're on Expert - the second tri-key is in a hidden tomb. Go into the village part, climb up on the roofs and look around for a big pipe that goes through a hole in the wall and out into the big volcanic vent that the elevator is in. Walk across the pipe (don't turn left and walk down the long pipe, just go straight across. You may have to jump across to a platform at the end. I don't remember.) Climb up to the top platform and you'll find the tomb.
I'm presuming that you're playing on this difficulty because you said you've already found one and I think on Hard, you only have to find one, not two.
As for the skulls, once you have all 4 of them, you need to go into the church that's on the grounds of the Brotherhood of the Sword. Sneak through the shadows towards the appartition at the front and you'll see a scroll lying on the floor. Read it and the front altar slides aside. There's a hole underneath with a ladder leading down. Get down there and you'll find coffins to place the skulls on. It's a bit tricky getting this bit to work properly, but when you've got them on the right place, they'll disappear, so if one of them just sits there, pick it up and try again. Once you've done that, one of the coffins will move and you'll find a hole behind it.
The secret is in the Mechanist Warehouse, amongst the boxes. It's just a little gap in the boxes where you find a cash box. If you want a screenshot, e-mail me and I'll send one to you.

It's never too late for praises. Have just finished "Shore leave" and after two missions I can say that I have never seen so thick line between frustration (in a mild sense) and joy when finally finding something new. I couldn't believe how many areas I have skipped at the start and they were literally in front of my nose. :D This is a masterpiece of vertical and horizontal exploration. Although I did not find Lord Art gallery, but will try later on replay.
I almost got a heart attack when entering the Cargo slot 4 in the ship and the mission did not end. Oh well, but didn't we teach you to close the doors behind you?

dml courtesy Glypher.
Important: This dml fixes the Snake Head altar. There are 4 snake heads in the mission, you are meant to need 3 of them to open the Snake Head Temple but due to a typo by the author the Ruby Snake became redundant, meaning you only needed to find and use 2 snake heads (Emerald & Sapphire snake heads) to open the Temple, this simple error has gone unnoticed for many years, but I wanted to point out the specifics of this fix as otherwise players who follow all current walkthroughs would get confused even irate that we are releasing a dml that now requires you to find and use 3 snake heads to proceed.
The dml also fixes a number of locations that became too easy with Newmantle, as well as fixing a few levers.

I THINK Shore Leave is broken in NewDark. Or in general. I can't tell which.
The key doesn't appear on the guy's grave when you put the flowers on it.
I'm playing on Hard mode and the scroll says its the key for Cargo Bay 5. But I have the key for Cargo Bay 5, and its the Cargo Bay 4 key that's missing.
Looking back through this thread, it seems people got additional objectives in this mission, and I still only have the one I started with.
Lord Thurmite has a mask collection? For me it was paintings. Still displayed like the masks usually are, on pedestals.
Also, jumping into the secret compartment in the ship does not trigger the event to transport you to the sunken ship near the submarine.
This mission is confusing in general, with the walkthrough implying that you need to go to the submarine, then back to the ship in order to crash the ship and get on the submarine?
fortuni on 24/6/2022 at 14:24
All is good with this mission, check my (
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Q6OmQ-_vrF3T5ZFqpnKPTAgKDTYfU57J/view) lootlist and you'll find the following
1. Compartment 5 key is the one found on Brother Bruthas' grave when you place the flowers on it, but that only happens on expert.
2. Cargo Bay 4 key on hard is on
the machinery, opposite room with big square table, lower level, factory behind Chapel., on normal/expert
On key rack in control room, west end, lower level of submerged submarine.3. And bizarrely none of your objective show as complete until you have finished the mission, so your kind of playing blind until then.
LaughingMan008 on 24/6/2022 at 14:49
Thanks fortuni, you're the best. :)
Normally Ide think I was missing something, but with all the talk of NewDark breaking missions, I can't tell anymore. I saw on the list of missions fixed by the latest DML package that Up Shit Creak was listed, but not Shore Leave, so I thought maybe it got missed. Just for the record, do you know if the rest of The Trickster's Gem Mine campaign has ANY bugs left in it, or can I safely assume I'm missing something if I get stuck in the future? XD
fortuni on 24/6/2022 at 15:23
Nothing game breaking, just a bit of missing loot in Making Tracks and Chasm of the Lost.
