So, I think I found where it goes, but the little thing isn't open. I'm also not sure if it is it, so I took a screenie.

ok freak you should still have key of red flame in your inventory as well as key of fire, you need both, once you do go back past the water where servant was go into the cave on right side to mining incampment go through double doors, go into first door on right then first door on left, you end up at entrance to fire temple lava pool inside, go up left side past headless priest into next chamber place key of red flame go out the newly opened star door you'll be outside near that screen shot you took then go down stairs to what your screen shot took that will now not be there go into second chamber and place key of fire.

I must have hit a bug then, because the key of red flame was already on the spot, but it wasn't doing anything. I shot it a few times with a fire arrow and such, but it didn't do anything.
The 'key of red flame' has already been placed, but nothing comes from it and the door right there doesn't open.
I've done the other 3, gotten their plaques and all that good stuff.
So, am I screwed here and have to start over?

Just thought I'd add my praise to the rest. I've been playing these constantly and i find that they stick in your mind so well, long after playing them. All FMs are good, but these are outstanding. I love the puzzles which are never too difficult, but very rewarding. Love the Lost City locations, - I felt that not enough importance had been given to it in TG and T2. And the use of SS2 stuff is fantastic!! Fascinating to see what the outcome would have been if Garrett hadn't succeeded at Soulforge. One query: who installed the watchers and turrets in the big room? Mech technology, using Precursor power, but the mechs don't know how to turn it off.
Oddly enough the second section reminded me of some of the old Infocom games, - especially Planetfall and Stationfall. Must have been the hunt for the keycards. Was that your intention too?
Many thanks Belboz. I don't want to start on Chasm yet; this one is so terrific. Are you considering doing any more?
wild_inferno9 on 16/7/2004 at 22:12
freak ya you hit a glitch i would say go back to an earlier save and try again, but when you place the burning key it opens that star door and the other one for key of fire,.

I can't replicate the bug, so its hard to fix it, as it should work.
As far as I understood thief 2, the mechanists got a lot of their technology from the precurssors, from the lost city site. So they could have got the bots and watchers from the lost city, and karras could just have added his face to them, or they could have already had karras face, in some type of prophesy, as to why karras thought he was the builder.

Yea, I started over and in 15 minutes I was further then I was after like, 5 hours of stealth gameplay. Zombies are slow. So now I'm on day 2 of elsewhere.
I also noticed you dont need to get the Proctors weapons, I only found the fire weapon and I still moved on :)
ShadowWolf421 on 18/7/2004 at 01:36
it depends on which difficulty you play. on expert its required.
To get the rest of the proctors weapons, look for buttons in ceilings
Freak[boy] on 19/7/2004 at 03:50
Nono, I was playing on expert. :)
ShadowWolf421 on 19/7/2004 at 04:04
have you read any of the mine reports? IIRC they give you new objectives for each proctor weapon
