That's it, I'm getting myself cloned. It's the only solution, really.

Damn, hope I wasn't rubbing it in if you're busy. I've never tried I44 before, but if you wanted to check it out we could have a session with it sometime.

No problem. I'm happy to be in a situation where I may just not get to play whenever and wherever I want... even if every now and then I wouldn't mind playing wherever and whenever. :) Thanks for the heads-up - might give I44 a try. In general, I'm happy to try any Arma mod that you or the others suggest.

Would this work with non-steam A2? I'd think so, but who knows. Also, how serious are you people? I mean, when I played these things in SP, I savegame/loadgame whored like a (not) boss, plus I often used 3rd person view and such.

The game itself should work without any problems whether it's on Steam or not, multiplayer or not. Have you got the complete pack, including Operation Arrowhead? Mind you, we do use Steam for voice chat, but you could join even without that.
We're not hyper-serious, I'd say. This is about having fun, basically. We do try to play to win, though, for what that's worth. Dunno - what would the others say?

Steam and non-Steam DLC don't mix on the same computer, but you can play in the same server as someone running a Steam version while you're not, vice versa. You'll need Arma 2 + Operation Arrowhead to join in.
I love a serious game, but a friendly game is always far better. Multiplayer Arma can be intimidating at first, but we know what we're doing, so mostly all you'd have to do is follow us around and shoot at people - and if you do fuck up somehow then 9 times out of 10 it makes things more fun anyway. :D

For the last few sessions we've been using a mod called (
http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=14568) Cold War Rearmed 2, which brings a bunch of vehicles, weapons, islands, etc from the original Operation Flashpoint, but we don't want to leave anyone out who wants to join in. Here's a tiny three step guide to installing it:
1. Download Cold War Rearmed 2 from (
http://cwr2.arma2.fr/files/cwr2_beta_r6.rar) here or (
http://arma3.fr/files/get/arma_2oa/modules/cwr2_beta_r6.rar) here.
2. Drop the @CWR2 folder to My Documents\ArmA 2.
3. Start Operation Arrowhead, go to Expansions in the main menu and double click Cold War Rearmed 2. Restart the game and it should be active. Do the same thing to deactivate.
If you have any problems then let me know, and if it's either too fiddly or doesn't work then we can switch back to playing vanilla Arma 2.

I have everything related to A2, just not on Steam (so it takes about two full workdays to install and patch it :) ). I use Steam otherwise, even for non-Steam games, so I get the overlay. I also heard about CWR, back when it was a mod for A1, but haven't been following it. I'll make up my mind about this in the coming week.

If you make your mind up in time, you can join our session on 14 December. Would be great to have you there!
