arma2 launcher is a great little tool, I've been using it for ages now, so easy to organize your mods and maps etc.

Makes you wish someone would combine the auto-update functionality of Play withSIX with the actual useability of the Launcher tool...

Cool game tonight! Thanks to Malleus and Neb for playing. Definitely looking forward to our next session and trying out some more of those smaller maps.
The next session is provisionally set for 18 January. I'll make sure to create an event on the Steam group.
Two questions to the gang:
1) Since Steam voicechat didn't work in-game for me tonight, how did you say I could solve this issue? I launch via the Arma 2 Launcher, so I don't know whether that's the problem.
2) I'm still not entirely comfortable with command, but I don't want to always opt out of the team leader slot and leave all the responsibility to everyone else. Do you know any resources with good tips for leading small co-op sessions? I've read Dslyecxi's guide, but that one seems mainly made for large-scale encounters.
P.S.: I've made myself simple heli training missions (pick-up and drop-off) for Chernarus, Takistan and Sahrani. Any time you feel like adding a chopper to a mission you're working on, Neb, I'm happy to comply. I'm much worse at killing our own guys when in a chopper than when throwing grenades! :p

Thanks for the game everyone!
Do you guys know of a mod that puts a small compass on the screen or something like that? I use the in game compass, but I have to grab it and put it away constantly to get bearings, it would be smoother with some interface aid.
@Thirith
If you use another exe file for launching the game, then try adding that exe to steam as a non-steam shortcut and launch that way. Maybe you'll get overlay then, don't know. You should be able to test this anytime (without an actual mic test), since if the overlay shows up, the steam VO should work as well (I think). Steam VO quality was better than the ingame VON, though.
EDIT: By "command" you mean leading the AI team?

The sthud mod should help you with the compass issue, Malleus. It's become pretty much essential since I started using it.
I'll try the Steam overlay suggestion ASAP - thanks! Here's hoping it works.

You might want to try (
http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=9936) ShackTac HUD (you also need (
http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=6231) CBA installed). It's a very basic minimap that also works like a compass. [Ninja'd, but I had this tab open while replying for over 20 mins, haha.]
Thirith, I run Arma 2 using the launcher and don't have the Steam overlay either, but voice chat works for me. I don't know what the problem will be.
When there's only a handful of us, leading a fireteam is easy. In larger games it can become a nightmare when you have to talk to your squad leader and communicate things up and down the chain, but without that all you really have to do is work out a route and also when to move/fire, all of which you did fine. I don't mind always taking the leader slot instead (unless Satire or Malleus want it).
I was making a small helicopter landing mission, but you beat me to it. I got stuck on dynamic objectives, but you can poke around with it and steal the scripts when it's ready.

I'd definitely be curious to check out your heli mission, Neb. Mine are very simple - waypoints alternating between pick-up and drop-off, with the only variations being time, weather and waypoints all varying in a ~100m radius. Still, it's good practice.
I'll see whether I can find out what the Steam problem is and whether it's restricted to Arma. It may well be that when I deactivated it for KotOR 2, I deactivated it for all programmes.

Nah, no thanks. Results would be disastrous. :)
Anyway, got the SThud mod working, thanks!

I've just realised, I'm away on the 18th so can't make it.
