TTLG Meet. Dallas, Friday, October 28, 2011 (Pics added) - by fett

I'm in Arkansas for a short time before heading back toward New England, so my wife and I are heading to Dallas on Thursday, October 27th for the Trivium/Dream Theater show (shove it up your arse, dethy) and plan on hanging around till mid-day Saturday.
SO, it's about time for a Southern TTLG meet, right? BA, Duncan (DeC), and a few other ttlgers are down that way, and of course all are invited.
Post suggestions for meet-up places here, and/or naked pictures of Duncan. Either way, the thread will have lasting value.
....aaaaandddd GO!

I wish I could. I have a buddy that lives there I could stay with and my daughter wants to go to that haunted house there but I know better than to plan it. It's still a ways away. Plus it's workday time mostly and I've taken all my days this year and I swear to god I think I'm the only thing keeping the company from imploding which is not good because I'm on the verge of it myself some days. Sigh. Glad yall are having such fun though. Take some pics. What the hell is a Trivium?

Exactly. What the hell
is a Trivium, and why isn't it a Mastadon or a Symphony X or an Opeth or a Porcupine Tree? WHY.
Well, make it if you can. That would be awesome. I'm headed back your way sometime this winter so we need to meet up then if we can.

This will be a great meet and eats! Looking forward to this, should be sublime, interesting, will be a treat to meet some more of you, and to see Raen again. Oh Tocky, come on, you can do it! Sounds like the TTLG meet will be on Friday, it would be great if you could make it. :)

Mastodon is like the only band mentioned in this thread worth a damn. Opeth would've been if they hadn't turned to complete shit- their new album is worse than Watershed for Christ's sake.

I can try to be around for that date. If so I'll drop by.

We're seeing Opeth on Wednesday, bite me, small venue, looking forward to it. Dema, if you can make it, drop me a line! Have any missions you need testing? :sly: We've moved since then, it would be great if you could make it!

I fail to see why, if Opeths latest album is not to your liking, that makes them bad. Does it somehow undo the brilliance of their earlier albums?

I'll see what is going on closer to the date. Would be awesome though. And if Raen can make it then I guess I have no excuse.

No. What it does undo is the brilliance of the band. They've gone in this direction basically since
Ghost Reveries, and I'm left wondering what the fuck happened that they would completely change into something not only unrecognizable, but has barely a fraction of their former genius. Much of the classic lineup is gone (the loss of Peter Lindgren and Martin Lopez had a huge impact) and I think what's left is just Mikael trying to be as weird as possible. Well, he's successful at that, but that doesn't make it listenable.
