I gotta hand it to you bro. Nobody else on this entire forum, not even Koki, DDL, CCCToad, SubJeff, Kolya, catbarf, Zygoptera, DaveW, BR#, Aja, Fragony, massimilianogoi or anyone from ThiefGen made me foam at the mouth with every post like you do. That takes talent. That takes skill. That takes being literally the stupidest person ever to grace this forum, and that includes Shadowhide and apdenton. Congratulations, now get out.

dethyyy, you are wrong - stupid can be faked and much easier than smart.

Would you care to offer up some examples rather than berate me for the examples I supplied?
SiN and Unreal 1 at least.

though while enemies were tougher, you could also still take quite a few hits yourself, so the enemies' health increase didn't seem imbalanced. In fact, it felt more like they were put on a level playing field with the player.
My ass. Many enemies bend you over and rape you so easily and quickly on HL1's Hard. Eg Vortigaunts, alien grunts, alien controllers, black ops assassins, turrets, gunships.

Hmmmm...maybe I was just really good at Half-Life.

You know how a really good game kind of gets you obsessed, you start to think about it during work, you pretty much can't wait to get back to it, everything else, even eating and sleeping, gets lower priority than getting back to it.
I'm not getting that. It's a fun game - the environments are gorgeous, the gunplay is mostly satisfying, the story is pretty good and the game overall is super polished and tight. But I'm just not getting all that excited by it. I'm sure I'll finish and it'll be fun, but....some element is missing, it just isn't there.
About half way through, maybe something will change. Part of it is that it just seems so routine:
-enter fighting area, music ramps up, kill bad guys.
-enter peaceful area, check every desk and garbage can for ammo, elizabeth talks.
-repeat loop over and over
I just don't see this as being a 10/10 game for the ages.

Once again, Brethren, your opinion matches my own to a T. It just became monotonous and even I saw the twist a mile away.

I dunno why you and Dethy insist that it's irrelevant when 1999 Mode is a direct reference to the year System Shock 2 came out.
Because the so-called mode apparently does not play anything like System Shock 2. You seriously couldn't figure that out on your own?
Jason Moyer on 3/4/2013 at 21:44
Right, I said it's disappointing that it just does the normal "turn your enemies into bullet sponges, reduce your health/damage" thing when System Shock 2 didn't do that, and that I found that surprising since the name of the mode is a direct reference to System Shock 2. And the counter-argument was "ya, but games in 1999 did that" and my point is that I don't care what other games did in 1999, the difficulty mode wasn't named "1999 Mode" because of Half-Life or any other game from that time period.

So anyway, I finished it, and it was wicked. A bit weird that the entire thing ended up being Mostly Harmless, but whatever.
