So, in the interests of people (like me) who for various reasons haven't jumped all over this the literal second it unlocked on steam, and who want to get the general peer-review of Dishonored without having to scan through threads with half your brain shut trying to avoid reading any spoilers, I am running this up the TTLG flag-poll to see how you all salute.
So: Dishonored. Is it good?

I was just planning on getting it when I've got a PC that can run it nicely, and also when it's cheaper (yay depreciation), by which point I was assuming I'd probably have forgotten any spoilers (which at the moment appear to be things like "code X for box Y in level Z is hidden behind barrel Q", not things like "You are the demons, John"). So I've been reading all the threads and the general consensus appears to swing between "oh god yes" and "oh dear fucking god yes".
Big hands, though. Apparently.

I'm really not sure how anyone could expect it to be anything other than awesome given Arkane's track record. It's like the Project Eternity thread where everyone is like "I need to know more about this before I pledge" as if anything is relevant besides "developed by Obsidian".

Well, I didn't think arx fatalis got any better than interesting (great at first, peaked at the goblin/cake interface, kinda lost me after that), so this wasn't an automatic pass for me.

Arx Fatalis was Ultima Underworld, but better in basically every way. I could see being unimpressed with Dark Messiah, but playing it as a stealth build is amazing.

@Jason Moyer: Haven't played Arx Fatalis (yet), but I liked the quirky quality of UW2's worlds - which is something that the first UW didn't have, and from what I've seen it's also not a feature of Arx Fatalis.

Well if you read my posts in the other threads you know I am loving it.
Honestly just as a game: They got everything almost perfect. I've seen tiny little nitpicks here and there (guy painting red coat with green paintbrush and palette), but they are so minor. Seems like every game these days has major issues right off the bat. Not here.
Movement = excellent.
artwork = excellent
voice acting = excellent
voice lines = excellent
menu choices = excellent...
See where I'm going?
OK, now stealth/thief genre:
This game is just downright awesome, fun, etc... No spoilers. But if you liked Thief series I don't see how you can't like this.
Yes it does have load zones (probably the worst aspect of the game as far as thief series goes-ie t3) BUT they are well placed (ie outside to inside doors of large buildings not blue fog in hallway) so they feel like more of a small Thief FM mansion/city rather than just weird placement. And the load time is in seconds so it's not immersion breaking. They are also only in between the largest areas, all small buildings have regular doors, some even have keyholes you can peek through and see what someone on the other side is doing :D
I guess that's an engine limitation which is OK because there are so many details and everything is so large and open I can except that as an optimization.
It really does feel like the devs sat down and discussed thief/modding community and said what are the best parts of thief and what can be improved. And they pulled it all off. I mean, they even have a 'ghost' achievement, how many other devs would even think to put that in?
The stats screen is right out of thief:
loot total/found
bodies found
kills
etc...
This IS thief 4
I can only see two groups of people not liking it:
1: your computer is so old you can't run it even on low specs
2: you HATE stealth gameplay (and you can still run and gun, it would probably just be a 'small' game that way)
