It doesn't read like Yahtzee. Yahtzee is clever, funny and has valid points to make.

@Cptn, since you threw it out there, I'll give you an honest opinion on your vid. From the comments section:

I'm inspired by Dennis Miller. Look him up some time. He's like Yahtzee, but with talent and punchlines. Dennis Miller effectively invented the verbose, stream-of-consciousness stand-up comedy rant. I don't watch, or enjoy, Zero Punctuation.
You may think you sound like Dennis Miller, but it comes out sounding much more like a poor man's Yahtzee. DM's rants are much more coherent and elegant, and he doesn't need to drop F-bombs every other sentence to make a point.

You're not fooling anyone by claiming you don't watch or get inspiration from ZP, when it's obvious you do, both verbally and graphically. The ever changing graphics that sync with what you're saying in your rant - that routine is pretty tired and overdone. The rant also sounds way too rehearsed and prepped, like you're reading off a teleprompter. You actually sound much better when you're just talking to the camera, like in this vid:

I thought that one showed off your knowledge of games history pretty well, and actually made me laugh a few times. It was much more interesting to watch than the Dishonored review.

I don't mind the style because you are very articulate compared to many people who try to do this type of thing. (And you're really nothing like Yahtzee who is copying verbatim the writing style and delivery of Charlie Brooker but with little of the wit, charm, or articulation).
I do disagree with various points in your review, though, but I only really wanted to respond to your criticism that you can't tell when Corvo will or won't be seen. Which is definitely confusing for the player at first if you've only played games where you're literally told on screen if you're in view or not (e.g., Thief, Metal Gear Solid, Elder Scrolls, etc). But once you know that Dishonored's stealth works via "line of sight", it's obvious that if you're in direct line of sight with a guard,
the guards will see you.
You claim you can't play the game unless you get the Dark Vision perk... That's not true. I played the whole game stealthily and only had one mission where I was spotted, and I never used Dark Vision.

I knew Rageaholic was a TTLGer!
I like those videos.

I've watched a few of them. I'm convinced he's wearing sunglasses so we can't see his eyes reading the teleprompter.

Translation:
'In video one, you were bashing things. I'm a contrarian shit-heel who wants to snub their stubby nose at the 'angry reviewer' trend (for the record, I've actually counted, and my videos are like a 70/30 positive/negative split, so you're what the French would call
fucking wrong, but I digress). In video two, you were talking about things you liked. Which allows my anus to de-clench and process that you're actually making valid points in both instances.'
Nobody cares how hard you need me to coddle your small-minded elitist sensibilities. Least of all me.
I don't take inspiration from Zero Punctuation. You're just sticking your fingers in your ears and saying 'neener neener, I'm not listening', on that one. I do stand-up comedy in my spare time. Thusly, I'm inspired my stand-up comedians. Dennis Miller being the most obvious direct inspiration. And it's not as if the similarities aren't immediately apparent. I even use his jokes for direct structure.
Hell... look at the joke he cracks at '0:44' in the video you just linked to '...the topic of free speech is touchier than a Vatican summer camp'. In my previous episode, a review of Resident Evil 6 - again, directly inspired by Dennis Miller - I made the remark that the crosshair in the game was 'touchier than a Vatican daycare' or some such. Same structure, same basic joke. A direct homage to Dennis Miller. And it's not the only one. I do it all the time.
You can't do that with me and Yahtzee. Because I
don't like his show and am not inspired by it. The man is talentless, he has no comedic delivery (which speeding up his audio in an editing program helps to ameliorate) and he uses negativity as a crutch. Even in his 'positive' reviews, he says 'I liked this game'... then spends the remaining 4 and a half to 5 minutes bashing it, because he lacks the ability to be
funny... and
positive... at the same time. Hacks often do.
Conversely, my most viewed, and in my opinion, funniest episodes have not only been positive but glowingly so. All of my movie reviews are positive, and they're without question my funniest output.
Don't blame me for Yahtzee being such a bleating sheep that he's been ripping off Charlie Brooker (who, in turn, rips off Dennis) for the past 5 years. We draw our water from the same well, the difference is that his is diluted.
Long walk. Short bridge.

Short bridge?
Anyway, let me see if I've got this correct: your points are that A) we are wrong and you ARE funny because you repackage jokes from other, funnier people, and B) that ZP (a comedy video series concentrating on negative reviews, a la brookers screenburn) is too negative and therefore you are better and funnier?
Renault on 15/11/2012 at 14:16
More often than not, if you have to convince people that you're funny, you're probably not.
