Tucker & Dale vs. Evil (movie) - by Harvester

Thought I'd make a separate thread recommending this movie because it's not very well known yet in America. In some European countries it's already out on DVD, it will be out in America on Blu-ray and DVD on September 26th.
Anyway, I really loved this movie. Thought it was the best horror comedy since Shaun of the Dead (I liked it more than Zombieland). It's about two lovable, good spirited hillbillies going out to their vacation home in the woods, and a bunch of typical horror movie preppy college kids assuming due to their looks that the hillbillies are inbred, Texas Chainsaw Massacre-style killers. The hillbillies rescue one of the college girls from the water after she almost drowns and take care of her in their cabin, but the college kids think that she's kidnapped and try to rescue her. A lot of people die completely by accident in gruesome ways due to the misunderstandings. I found it very, very funny, and I hope it becomes a cult classic.
One of the hillbillies is played by Alan Tudyk, which some of you may know from Firefly. The actor who plays the other hillbilly is also very good, and the main chick is very hot.
Anyway, (
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1465522/) here's the IMDB page
And you could watch (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFFh25DmPNU) this Redband trailer, but be advised: in my opinion it spoils way too many of the jokes, you're better off skipping the trailer and just watching the movie if the premise seems funny to you.
Anyone else seen this yet?

Oh yes, we watched Tucker & Dale on DVD, and I absolutely loved it :D At some point I had to pause the movie to wipe my eyes, because I was laughing so hard I literally couldn't see anything :joke:

Oooooh yeah I remember reading about this when I was surfing IMDb to see what else Alan Tudyk had been in. I watched the trailer back then but got the feeling I'd seen most of the jokes already just by watching the trailer so I never bothered tracking it down. Will have to watch it now that I can't remember the trailer so good anymore.

Coincidentally YouTube forced me to watch the trailer for the first time today, before I had even read this thread (just saw the title), and I didn't even know what movie it was until the end... And then it clicked of course that's what this thread must be on. Now it's even a stranger coincidence if the movie has already been out for over a year... Or I guess it's was an indie flick that did the festival circuit, got released in some European countries, and only now is going to be released in the US, or something like that; that would explain why all the hooplah now.
Well the premise looked clever. I got the idea just from the short trailer I watched and thought it had potential.

According to the director (who posted about it on the IMDb message boards) it played at a couple of festivals, then a copy got leaked to BitTorrent sites and has been doing the rounds there. The director said so many people had already seen it due to its popularity on torrent sites that it has been difficult for them to find an American distributor for the movie. That's probably why it got released in Europe first before it hits America next month. I'm at least glad they're doing an actual publicity campaign instead of a completely silent release, IMO this movie deserves to be noticed.
Yeah it's an indie movie but it's very professionally made and looks like it had a far larger budget than it actually had, it's not a typical indie movie with grainy, shaky camera, bad "natural" lighting and a soundtrack with quirky pop songs by unknown bands.

Been wondering when this would get a DVD release. It's been on my radar for years. Mostly I've just loved Tyler Labine in everything I've seen him in (namely Reaper and Invasion) and would recommend people check out Control Alt Delete.

Really like the premise when I first heard of it. Will have to check it once it hits the web.

Watched this the other night. It's ok, but a bit too broad. We are asked to accept some pretty unbelievable scenes just for the sake of the plot. If you can turn your brain enough to accept that yeah, maybe that guy did jump into the woodchipper by accident, or ok, maybe Tucker and Dale didn't see that impaled guy out in the woods because a tree was in the way or something you might actually enjoy the movie. Parts of it feel way too contrived is what I'm saying. It's no Shaun of the Dead or Evil Dead 2. Might just be slightly better than Zombieland though.

Well, this happens in most of the movies ;) And for me all that "unbelievable" stuff was almost the funniest :cheeky:
