I found a couple of posts dealing with this issue for Thief 1, but not really something for Thief 2.
How can I turn off the ambient music? The ambient slider in the audio options menu doesn't seem to do anything.
I'm using Tafferpatcher.
Thanks!

I don't know that you can.
Well, not easily anyway. I just thought of a way but it'd require editing the sound.crf file (or placing files in a Snd folder.) Maybe someone else has a better idea?

Lower the ambient volume in the audio menu.
Problem is, some authors have what would be ambient sounds pinned to the main volume, so it's all or nothing.
Best way I've dealt with it is to id the file in the folder and replace it with a dead file of the same name and file extension. If the file name matches anything in crf, you will hear that sound instead. Figured that out years ago when I thought deleting the offending file would do it and I got a loop of Karras instead

That's what I was getting at in my post.
