Use your lockpicks to unlock the barred window grate. (Use them right on the grate itself. There isn't a visible lock or lockbox.) Then frob it to open it. If you stand right up at the end by the drunk guard and lean in, you can pick the key from him and then unlock the door. :)

Heh..I'm glad someone else did that.. A few days ago, I did the same thing and posted the solution to the wrong problem in another thread..
I just wanted to thank you Nightwalker for posting about the little surprise in this mission... I never played it on expert because..well..I almost never play levels that force you to ghost.. But the hint you dropped about the surprise inspired me to go back and give it a go, and it was a blast on Expert (the knock-out-through-the-door trick really came in handy, too..heh)...

Thanks, fornever and Nightwalker. I finally got the gas arrow and have made good use of it. I am still clueless about where this tomb is that I see on the map. I guess I need to find it.:) I think you would miss a lot of game if you played on anything but expert.:cheeky:

That's true, each difficulty level introduces something new.
Playing on easy is very simple but:
Hard & Expert - You get the surprise previously mentioned
Expert only - You can get into the tomb
Plus the harder levels do have the extra objective restrictions (No KOs, don't be seen)
Anyway it's nice to see that people are still playing this :cheeky:

There's actually another map to find that will show you the location of the tomb if you haven't gotten it... Here's the location of the map:
In one of the rooms in the 2nd floor (I think somewhere near the top of the carpeted stairs that go up from the main entrance), there's a bookshelf with a book that opens a secret door in the bookcase.. It's pitch black in there, but if you look around the floor, you'll find a book... When you read the book, you'll get a map of the hedgemaze that will show you the location of the tomb.. Make sure you read the rest of the book, too, because it contains a hint on how to open the entrance to the tomb....
I'm near the end of this cracking FM but can't find the sceptre. I am in the tomb and have polished off the two undead. Now I'm stuck. Help?
Thiefs_Pawn on 24/4/2002 at 13:18
If the undead are gone then you can just take a leisurely look around, all you have to do is search the tomb reasonbly carefully, you're not looking for anything particularly small either
If you still can't find I can help a bit more but it's tricky not to give it away completely.
BTW How did you kill both the zombies? I don't remember putting that many fire arrows in the level.

I used the holy water on the floor. Which part of the tomb is it located, the part with two tombs, one tomb or the alter???? ?Thanks.
Thiefs_Pawn on 24/4/2002 at 13:35
Technically non of the above ;) Ok, read the next spoiler if you want the exact location

Go through the first tomb to the corridor on the right, crouch down and look at the right-hand wall of the corridor
I thought I had checked out every one in the place. The guards are really tough once the alarm goes off. At times it has seemed nearly impossible to get by certain spots and they are so sensitive. This is the toughest FM I've played as far as getting past guards. Thanks. I'll look for it. I have enough loot now.:)
