Does anyone have a valid frog mesh with good limit planes? I have Shadowspawn's from the Mesh-T2-gif.zip, but it does not get through .3ds->.bin (using either the frog or the burrick mesh type). I keep getting the calc_poly_segs error, which as I understand, indicates that the mesh somehow violates the limit planes. At first I thought it was my new frog model, but I had built it to stay within the envelope of Shadowspawn's mesh, so after tearing a few hairs out, I thought to try Shadowspawn's mesh itself, with no changes. And lo, it has the exact same problem. :grr:
I rather like my new model, so I really don't want to abandon it, but I lack the skill to muck much with the limit planes, & can't tell which one(s) it might be, so I really need a good OM file for ol' froggy to start from (FrgBeas.3ds).

I just tried with the original mesh (frgbeas.e) from mesh.crf using the Burrick creature type, and it worked fine.

I tried that too, and I couldn't get it to work ... I'll try that again.

What are u using to convert your work into .bin & .cal?
That could be the reason!
I'm using MESHBLD, that works.
How are your plane? You know these plane that cut your frog in multiparts for motions.
Perhaps some planes has been moved screwing everything up.
Or if you have added more vertixes, have you checked if no vertixes are between two planes or things like this?
In the worst case, gimme it! I'll try to help you to convert that!

What gets me is that the original e file doesn't work either. I'm using NV's 3ds_to_bin.exe interface to the standard utilities (3dstoe.exe, BSP.exe, MeshBld.exe, and View.exe), so yeah, it's MeshBld.exe under NV's front end. If it works for RSoul, it should work for me. But it isn't.
What I did was cut the frog's head off and replaced it with a new one. I didn't know that you can't have a vertex between two limit planes, so that may be part of the problem. I can cut the neck a little higher up on the new head and old body and make sure that I haven't added any between those neck planes. But the original e file doesn't work for me either, and it should. This is my first frog, but I have done burricks and humans before successfully. :(
@FireMage: If I can' get it going tonight, I'll take you up on your generous offer and PM you my 3ds model for you to try.

You're welcome!
Your situation remind me that story with my High Polys Crayman... A real hell!
But now it work after hours of fighting! :thumb:
Converting the stuff is not easy but the harder thing is to have a creature with a good shape ingame.
How manytimes I saw my custom creatures with a vertice from the leg which behave like an arm or a shoulder like a head...
The Horror! If I wasn't a strong heart, I could die by a heart attack! :laff:
So, don't worry, I'm use to such situation! ;)

I could never get 3ds -> bin to work for meshes until I moved all the files so there were no spaces in any of their paths (i.e. all the way from the drive letter to the end). I never had a problem with N3ds2E and BSP, so it's probably an issue with meshbld and its parameters.

What? BSP for Meshes?
For objects, yes, but for creatures... I learn something today...
MeshBld is a good program, alas, the last time I search it in the web to upgrade a new computer, it was unfindable!
I was obliged to bring it from my old computer via USB key.

No. I could make ordinary objects (which require bsp) but not AI meshes (which require meshbld).

I can make meshes, just not this frog ... yet.
