I'm playing Deus Ex with the multiplayer patch installed. I never noticed these bugs before the patch.
The first bug is with the sound. Sometimes when a new level is loaded up, the footstep sounds become very fast. It sounds like JC is tap dancing or something.
The second bug is with the NSF distress signal mission. I accomplished the mission, but the mission objective remains on the Goals screen, as though it still needs to be done. I'm now in Hong Kong, and its still there. I noticed that when I sent the signal the message from Simons never popped up, but the guards still wanted to kill me.
So, they aren't game crashing bugs, just little annoyances. Are they caused by the Multiplayer patch?
Thanks for any help.

1) I have no idea what's causing this. Maybe a problem with the sound card. It's a strange bug, though.
2) This can be fixed by installing the most recent patch. But, you'll have to restart your game for this to take effect.

I think they're releasing a new version of Deus Ex soon, with MP etc included, maybe that'll help. I'm sick of MP crashing on me... 5-6 times a night. Maybe I should get a life

Both happen to me, too.
And there are more quests that "stay". One is the signal, another is "scuttle the freighter", and that one is 3 lines long...
There is another one, too.

After failing miserably to save old man Savage's daughter and being debriefed on it, I still had the annoying message in my goals/notes. Kind of an ignominy I guess.

Yes they are caused by the MP only patch. There is a single player patch out now that includes the multiplayer extension, you should download that one instead. Just install this patch over the old one and it should fix it.

I've just been ignoring the lagged mission messages. Once you start playing and you're really immersed, you don't really notice the wierd footsteps all that much.
I've been loving Deus Ex, my JC kicks ass. Sometimes I think he kicks too much ass. The game may be a might bit unbalanced. If I turn on my bullet proof, regeneration, and synthetic heart augs all at once, I'm practically invincible. Then I just equip the dragon sword and nothing (well maybe a mech) can stand in my way. Gunther and Simons went down with one hit.
Now I'm at the missle silo. Let's see what else MJ12 can throw at me. :D

And I bet you're playing on Medium difficulty ;)
Try the harder levels...Hard or Realistic (be careful with Real., it's unreal. You die with one bullet to the torso)
Monkeysee, thanks for the patch.
