I started to play Two Worlds and I was wondering how I can activate the sneaking. I added skill points to it, but somehow I don't see how I can engage it.
I'm quite at the start for the moment, but it looks quite nice. Reminds me a bit of Gothic. :D

Funnily enough, I played on this for the past few weeks, and ran into the same problem.
It should be an option on your number keys. The F7/F8/F9 panel should display a load of things you can "do" by pressing the relevant number keys. One of these should be sneaking. The icon is of a person slightly crouched (like a 3rd-person view of Garrett). The problem is that you can only sneak when using certain weapons. Try sneaking while not wearing any armour or holding any weapons.
Personally, I never used it so I'd be interested to see how effective it is in the game.

Thank god I'm not the only one. :)

Yeah, I noticed that hotkey bar and then I found it. A bit confusing, because I was looking in the configuration screen which key it is but obviously you can only activate all kind of features only via those hotkeybars.

Hmmm, I was just trying it and the character responded even with the armor on. I just tested it in a safe environment. So do you mean that even though the character crouches and looks like sneaking, it will not be sneaking as long as the armor and stuff is on?

In Baldurs Gate I was quite sucessfull with a single thief sneaking and planting traps. I wanted to give that a try and see if it works here as well. Also it sounds interesting because you are supposed to be able to make a powerfull stealth attack from behind. :)
Can't quite decide whether my char should become a mage or a thief as I don't know how effective it really would be to put points on sneaking and those skills. Would be a waste of time if I build such a char and then realize that sneaking is not very usefull.

No, if your character crouches and sneaks, then it should all be fine. What I meant is that some equipment you get (I think much later in the game) makes it impossible to sneak, e.g. super-heavy armour, battle-axes the size of a tree, etc. Which is fair enough, since you'd expect to be spotted with all that stuff. Normal weapons and armour should be fine for sneaking. I just wanted to make sure you can sneak by using the right keys. There's one skill where you can assassinate someone with a silent put-down, but you can only do that with a dagger I think.
Try sneaking behind someone who hasn't seen you. You should get an "eye" icon over their head that changes colour if they spot you.
Glad someone else likes Two Worlds! I got it from GOG in their sale, and thought it was great, despite the voice-acting :)

Um, I have been posting about this game recently, even in my 'What Have You Been Playing' thread today. I am level 9. And did you buy the game or pirate it? I am not judging, just asking as the retail version I have some with a rather thick, comprehensive manual that explains the mechanics rather well.
And yeah. When you level up skills, check to see if they are Active or Passive. If Active, then you can assign the skill to a slot in one of your 3, 10-slot hotkey menus. Magic is cast the same way.
Oh, and I have never had a problem sneaking because I had a certain weapon/armor equipped. Just activate it, and make sure nobody sees you making your move.

Thanks for the info. How do you bind a certain skill to the Hotkey panel? I looked in the manual, but couldn't work it out. I may be being a bit thick, but then again, so is the manual (literally!) :) This is why I skipped the magic and stealth and just went as a fighter - it'd be good to replay it as a mage or assassin.

That would be the old Double Click the skill/spell icon trick. And yeah, can't wait to replay as a Mage!

Thanks, will have another go as a mage when I've finished tha other game I'm playing.

you need a dagger to activate any sneak/backstab talents. armor normaly has a description that says if it goes with sneaking. I played a few builds, one until after the desert but nowhere finishing the main quest as it gets just too boring after some time. especially the alchemy system is broken as in: any build you do is OP with alchemy. just ditch any "temp" herbs, only mix perma potions and don't specialize until after level20 and you are in godmode. my two handed warrior had almost every hit a critical and insta kill, with whirlwind and a few low magic buffs noone can touch you, there is no more tactic, only entering a room and seeing what the game throws at you without fear of dying. at least on the def difficulty I started the game on. I don't think I will finish it, it just became too boring after some time but I do love the insane dialogue.
MAYHAP MAYHAP I will reinstall it some day
PS: and darth vader is oc very funny. and don't learn the "unhorse strike" since you only need it in multiplayer, no enemies with horses in this one

I love this game. Level 10, and just exploring the countryside (and killin' dwarves in teh mine) at my leisure. +1
