Yeah, I've just restarted as a mage and will also have a play round with the sneaking skills. My first run-through was as a warrior that was level 58 by the end, I was pretty invincible except by some of the end-of-game baddies. Good luck with it, gunsmoke!
PS - I'm playing it with the audio on this time, to appreciate the voice acting in all its awfulness :)

I'll try to get into this later, but right now it's doing nothing for me. I wish I could figure out why I enjoy the Elder Scrolls/Witcher/Dragon Age so much but stuff like Two Worlds and Gothic just irritate the shit out of me. I feel like these games would be better if the characters wielded foam swords and felt armor to go with the fake british accents and "tis an omen of thine fate, thou shouldst orks with thine hammer to smite" dialog.

Gothic 2 I tried to get into, but found the controls a bit odd. Two Worlds is a lot more "natural" in its movement. I'll have another go one day as I've heard good things about it.
The voice acting is indeed terrible, first time round I just turned all audio off and put some music on in the background. I skipped a lot of the dialogue as well by hitting space, so some plot points I missed out on but it was still followable from the Quest Log.
GoG is definitely the place to get it as it's $10 and DRM free (that may or may not be an issue for people, I really like it). There is a minor bug with the multiplayer though, GoG will send you a patch for it when you request the multiplayer key.

I found a retail copy on ebay (BuyItNow) for $4 with free shipping a while back. Don't forget to check prices on a physical disc before simply plunking down $10-$20 on digital distribution services.

Sure, although I'm a bit odd and want to support GOG for their no-DRM versions (not that I'm a "shoot anyone who even puts CD-checks on their software!!!" kinda guy, I just think no-DRM is a great idea) and so I'll happily pay a bit more for that. But I appreciate that's just me being a bit weird and the majority just want cheap games :)
I'm surprised it's so cheap elsewhere though, it's £5 here in the UK at Amazon, which is a fair bit cheaper than GOG. Still, the main thing is that people play it and enjoy it :)

Well, it's been quite some time since I last time played Gothic so my memory might be clouded. I remember that I hated the controls at the beginning, but playing a bit with it it started to get comfortable. Normally I hate different control schemes because I feel that mine is quite good, but with Gothic I really could adjust pretty well to it.

Well you can still read the dialogs. I don't find them so bad, but that might be because I'm not a native speaker. :) What I really don't like about it is that the music is quite strange often. It's not loud enough and also doesn't fit the mood. I'm already used to games that adjust the music to what is happening. So I was alerted because the music suddenly became dramatic and I was looking around because I thought that there might be an attacker around which I missed. But it wasn't, it was mjust the music playing along.

DRM free??? That stupid activation is not what I would call DRM free, quite the other way around. Actually I prefer a disc protection much more, because with those I can install a NoCD patch and I'm rid of it.

Um, GoG is 100% DRM-free. Dunno what you're on about.

Indeed, I take back my "GOG is the place to get it" statement as I wasn't aware you could get it as cheaply elsewhere. Plus, as you say, the multiplayer patch adds online activation (not really an issue as GOG give you the multiplayer license key, but it's bad for their no-DRM policy).
I was a bit unsure about the multiplayer issues, as I never play multiplayer. Am I right in thinking that the GOG version does not let you play against others online in an open world, but only by LAN? And the patch fixes this but adds online activation? I've not installed the patch since I don't play multiplayer.

Oh, I thought you were still talking about Two Worlds. Didn't realize it's now about Gothic 2 so forget it. Maybe I'm confused now. :p  :eww:
