No, I thought Jason was talking about Two Worlds as well. Basically, Two Worlds is indeed DRM-free on GOG, but the multiplayer doesn't work properly. GOG released a patch that fixes this, but now you have to activate on-line to be able to play multiplayer. Whilst this isn't an issue technically, I think this breaks GOG's no-DRM policy, and apparently the servers used to cancel people's activations whenever they had a bit of a hiccup, so it's less than ideal.
The GOG thread about it is (
http://www.gog.com/en/forum/two_worlds/network_settings/_/1) here, and a discussion (
http://www.gog.com/en/forum/two_worlds/hotfix_amp_amp_drm) here. Since I don't play multiplayer, I wasn't too sure on exactly what was meant in it, but I think the above is correct.

I've tried the demo and have a couple of questions.
What's the story like in the full game? Are there interesting NPCs? There demo didn't give a very good impression here.
I found horse riding and fighting on horseback almost impossible. Is there some trick to it?

Haven't played much into the story, because I first want to do some quests, so I try to avoid the main quests at the moment. I did only one of those quests and it was quite nice IMO.
The NPCs I find a bit boring. Also it's a bit hard IMO to tell which NPCs have something for you, because I stopped asking them after always getting the same responses. Then I hit one and suddenly got a quest, so I'm not sure if you really have to ask all of them, which would be a pain. Maybe I miss something on how to tell which ones are interesting.

Horseriding needs a bit getting used to. :) What I found is a good trick when you want to stop fast is to press the action key. the one you use to mount/unmount. In that case the char pulls the horse back and it stops immediately and unmounts. If you try to slow it down to stand still, it takes ages. :p
Fighting I found quite easy so far. In fact I think that might be a bug, because when I'm overwhelmed by boars or wolves, I get the horse head on and the AI stops. Then I can pull aside and whack it without getting any damage. I read that the horse is quite vulnerable to attacks, but so far I got lesser hits on me and none on my horse.
Funny thing is that I also got a second horse. I had a savegame where my horse was standing a bit away and when I reloaded it suddenly there was the same horse again a second time. I brought both of them into the city and used them as a storage place for armor I might need later. :p
BTW: Is there some way to get the horse through the teleporter?

When you go to speak to someone, they have an icon in front of them of two faces speaking. This changes colour depending on what they can do:
White = General information
Green = Quest information
Blue = Change Skill Points
Red = Training information
I only found this out halfway through the game the first time round!

Not that I know of. Horses are a bit vulnerable, I had two of them die in my first play though.
Do you know how to fight on horseback? If I click with left-mouse while riding, nothing happens. Do you just ride your horse towards the enemy and run them over?
gunsmoke on 10/9/2010 at 14:06
You have to pull your weapon out once on the horse, then attack with the mouse button.

Hmm, I can't get it to work. Does it only work with certain weapons? I've tried with small axe and spear, and both can't be drawn while on horseback :(
mothra on 10/9/2010 at 23:13
sword only. i always parked my horse before big mob fights. i wanted to keep my necromancer one alive :)

Great! So this will be a feature I will have problems with because I'm colorblind. :( Well, I see the difference between white and blue for example and green and blue should also work. Oh, well, thanks for thi hint, I will take a look and see if I can notice it. :erg:

I gave a skillpoint to the abillity for fighting from horseback. But you don't need it just to use it, because it only improves it, you can also do it from the start. Just ride near the AI so that you can reach it, and smack it. Basically not really different then fighting on foot, only the controlls are different, because you have to steer the horse instead.
Well, I haven't had time to play the last, week, but I guess today it will be time again. :D I check it and see if there is anything special, but I don't really remeber doing anything particular.
BTW: Bow, sword, clubs and axes definitely work, as I use them. Never tried it with a spear, but could be that this doesn't work as it is two handed.
gunsmoke on 11/9/2010 at 13:05
Pretty sure they have to be one-handed weapons to be used on horseback. Makes sense, actually.
Brian The Dog on 11/9/2010 at 13:16
Ahaaa! You're right, Gunny :) I just tried it, and axes, bills, and spears all don't work, but swords and clubs do. Thanks to both for your help!
Rather strangely, you can ride the horse while fighting with a shield on one hand and a sword in the other. Presumably your character steers with his knees?
