Hummmm...What about the ability (not any super power or anything) to sneak on any person (anyone !) and get your dagger out, and you can extract information about where to find loot and information about the place (for example, you sneak on a personal servant of a grand lord or summut, but your dagger at his throat and extract ALL the money you need, and all of the information you want about the place, and when you are done, you just need to choose to either kill him/her or just knock him out...
What d'ya think ?

You know, on a scale of 10 of stupidity, this idea exceeds infinity.

Interesting idea, but I think Garrett prefers to find information in less intrusive ways than coercion.

Um, no.

I think generally speaking the ability to communicate with NPCs would be a great feature ... but coercion should just be one small element. If there were a model, it might be how NPC communication is handled in Vampire The Masquerade -- except without the variation by stats -- where there were chances for coersion, cleverness, charisma, and all sorts of ways you might get info from an NPC depending on the situation.

Wrong game, taffer!
No confrontation as gameplay. Blackmail suggested face-to-face coercion, but all Garrett wanted to know was who hired Truart to kill him (the player knew already by that point), and it never happened. I don't ever want to see it in Thief gameplay. In an FM, okay, maybe, just as an experiment.
I hated his mugging thugging in TDS.

Blackjack/pickpocket and read a journal and overhear a conversation--Info gathered and done!
Un-important:
Garrett should speak Paganese, Brillian, and Prinkish, and have a beach house and lounge around in shorts before a job.

The beautiful part of the game is that Garrett can follow your personality, so if you are violent, you could chose the easiest level and killing nearly everyone (that was what I've done the first times I played the game, just for amusement, and to hear them scream hahha), but after a bit of time, when you notice that you are very superior in strength to the NPCs, you begin to annoy, then you understand that the greatest way to play Thief is
Ghosting. Ghosting is a term forged in this forum, that fits flawless what it want to mean: trying to never be detected by anyone, killing nobody, and 0 use of violence.
But if you are at the very beginning with this game, feel free to use violence and using coersion to everyone. Personally, if you will make a mission with this, I will be very happy to play it :ebil:
